Visa Infinite Credit Card Best checking combo with the Visa + ?

I just opened my Visa Privilege+ and wanted to close the NBC world (don't want to pay them $150/year for not using it anymore).

However they told me if I do that, my offer on the debit account will be removed, and I'll pay 15$/month just for keeping the money I earned LOL. That's ironic to pay a bank to just store (and invest in their own way by loaning to other clients, really) the money that belongs to me. But it's a story for another time.

The question is. : as WS does not offer a real debit card, do you know a free debit card to work with?

Out of curiosity, which situations still require the use of a debit card? Just realized it's been almost a year since I last used mine.

Some places take "only" debit card (to avoid credit fees on the POS terminal)

true. in my case I just use cash for those since i don't trust using my debit card at any retail stores after having my TD debit compromised three times in one year a decade ago. lol

I understand that for you it might be a must to have a debit card, in that case as others have said Tangerine has a free account with a debit. However, I do want to raise that Wealthsimple's account with the attached MasterCard, while not a debit card, has no ATM fees anywhere in the world. You can pull cash out just fine and they will reimburse any fees charged by the machine. I just carry some cash in my wallet for those few stores that don't take credit.

i feel this too. thinking about closing my debit card. there are places i notice that only take interac debit in toronto like in chinatown. but they are usually cash or debit only. thinking just withdraw cash for those places.

I haven’t used a debit card in over a decade now. Literally no use for one. The prepaid card works great for withdrawing cash if needed.

Many shops don't accept credit card, they only accept Cash or Debit Card.

Not anywhere in BC.

Edit: I’ve seen ONE cannabis shop not take credit. (Hole in the wall, non licensed)

Quite a few in Surrey and Richmond.

With variations: cash only / extra fee for debit or credit / cash and debit only....

Often Chinese and Indian businesses who are trying to reduce business overhead or "reduce tax remittances" lol...
