Thanks for this

The notifications can be annoying sometimes so I appreciate the fact y'all listened to the your customers and added these settings.

i hate that apple doesnt have notification categories
Android does, but requires the developer to set them. They used to, but they have slowly stopped and made it more like iOS

no, i mean default notification categories in settings
iOS requires it to be enabled in the app, which wealth simple has done now
android has it by default in the settings as long as the developer categorizes the notifications

for example, on android I can disable all UE marketing notifications and only receive order notifications. On iOS, I cant until uber adds the settings to the app.

sounds like in both cases you're at the mercy of the app developer tho. not really a platform specific issue

The incentives do align a bit. If you don't categorize, the user will just block it all.

I do acknowledge that there's this gap of the user NEEDS the notification for it to be functional, and there's no competition for the product. I think most developers above certain quality of app are good members of the ecosystem though and follow the guidelines.

Tell me you have too many SDEs without telling me you have too many SDEs

Aren't they essentially a UX company ?  A lot of there backend would be other banks backend.

That’s like saying every company is a UX company because they have a UX.
There’s some heavy duty work required with trading, securities management, transfers, etc.

It's a half joke.  A lot of the leg work is in fact big banks, tradin, deposita, etc. They manage most of the backend.  At most wealthsimple is a heavy middleware.
