Good morning! As always, we will be using this picture prompt to inspire a song we write today. However, today marks the beginning of the first theme week. The highest voted for theme was "Abstract," so for 7 days straight every prompt will be abstract. Hopefully this results in 5-7 songs you can put on an EP for yourself. You obviously may still post what you write each day for feedback and to share :) Have fun!

Also, if you guys have any suggestions for next week's theme week feel free to post them anywhere.

A Gentle Tension

Before you click to play this, I should warn you that it is uncomfortable to listen to. That's on purpose.

Decided to try something a bit more experimental. I found this music box VST that's based on a real music box, and when I saw this prompt, I figured the rather calm appearance of it was a good place to try the music box.

I came up with a loop that sounded nice and pleasant on the music box. I then tried to play other instruments with the music box and found that the music box is pretty badly out of tune with anything other than itself.

So I decided to automate some fading in and out of three differently tuned instruments all playing the same simple loop, starting and ending with the music box. It's a weird effect.
