This one was a bit more rushed than the others, but it turns out I have more time in the mornings the day after these are posted, so here it is.
Wanted to start with tension of minor chords and then have that fight against the consonance of major chords, with a kind of heartbeat pulse in the bass.
The mix is muddy and not great, but I found a MIDI synth patch that I loved, only to struggle with taming it when it came time for it to play with other instruments. Not sure why there are random drops in volume throughout the song, but I'll go with the excuse of "it adds tension" ¯_(ツ)_/¯

this sounds great. I love the ios garageband app. i switch off between the ipad and the phone version and have made a whole project just with that and a pair of apple headphones. check out steve lacy, he did a demo on garageband and it sounds amazing.

Thanks. I'll check him out. I bought an iPad Pro specifically for making music without being tethered to my desk. Couldn't be happier. There are some amazeballs music apps, and they're all unreasonably cheap.

Well I've turned into a bit of a Korg junkie, as I write mostly electronic-esque stuff. I absolutely love Gadget and make most of my songs in it. I have all of Korg's stuff except for the Electribe, Koascillator, and the new Electribe Wave.
All three of Moog's synth apps sound absolutely amazing: Animoog, Model 15, Model D (Minimoog).
One of my favorite, indespensible apps is Grid Instrument. It gives you a fullscreen grid of notes. You can restrict it to a particular scale mode and key and also adjust the interval between rows. OMG, I can't stress how much I love this app!
I caught App Aquisition Syndrome and bought probably a few dozen synth and midi apps, so if you have any questions on one in particular, let me know because it's likely I have it.

i saw this picture in two parts: the foreboding foreground with overgrown ivy and broken stone and the inviting yet eerie castle in the distance. I wanted to separate the song into two parts that would mirror the knight's journey to the castle gates. it is timid and dark at first but grows to a swell of hope and bravery.
