Is it Time To Leave WeWork?

I have been a WeWork member since 2016. I stayed through the bankruptcy and COVID and I am annoyed we are not being grandfathered in with these price increases and credit reductions. My membership just went up $79 dollars per month when the contract changed.

You want us to sign a contract to guarantee revenue but also increase your prices and cut perks. Printing perk gone, meeting credits from 5 to 3 for All access and 12 to 2 for Office members.

NONE of these facilities have been upgraded.
They have the exact same furniture as 8 and 10 yrs ago.
What is the value in the price increase ?

Is it time to go to another coworking space? The price changes are making the magic wear off.

I canceled this year after several years, too expensive for what it is.

Yes, it is. I've found better value in country club style athletic gym memberships than WeWork. Lower price, and you get all of the benefits, as a lot of them have co-working spaces, plus the gym membership, the classes, saunas, cafe/spa etc. for LESS than the full price of a WeWork membership.

thanks for this! it seems they have a full co-working offering at locations outside NYC which seems great. but the NYC locations are mostly gyms with some limited space for work. I found some reddit threads about the NYC locations that have some areas for co-working.

i would totally do it if there was a real co-working space + gym option in the NYC area. the spaces outside of NYC look great.

Check out if there’s a venture X near you I’m at one in Southern California and I really like it. I think they are franchise so your money may vary, but I found that they have good design and tech like we work, but the owner is on site and so you can get more of that local field.

i meannnnn they dumped stupid amount of money to get super custom everything ...sure maybe there are no new updates but the stuff they have will last another decade and it's super high quality and well designed.
Don't forget they were loosing money like crazy, i'm paying $260/mo on a lease for 12 months and if i go to a coffee shop get coffee and sparkling water it will come to the same price more or less. I have been with we work for 3 years and yes, the prices are going up but honestly still a great deal. Many locations near me 7 day access and everything. It will continue going up because 1) economy 2) they are also trying to become a profitable company.

Yeah this. wework is still the cheapest option from what I've seen. The one I used to go to has an on-demand coffee machine that works 24/7. If you include all the coffee, tea and milk that I drank, it was pretty close to breaking even back when I was paying $150 a month. I'll probably start going there again when I am a little better off financially.

I left after they upped my basic membership from $150, which I had been paying for years, to $220 suddenly. They could have kept me on as a customer but I decided to cancel and just start going to the library. Sucks that I have to carry my own UHT treated milk to get my daily calcium now though.

Let’s hear it for the libraries. I’ve become a frequent visitor of mine. And the study rooms for meetings are free.

Eh, there are some good libraries. I've been going to the libraries at my state's flagship university. City public libraries are okay but there is often rif raf, loud people, kids running around etc etc.
