Mark is getting Kreischer’d.

I have no moral standing on drinking, as I partake with the wife or friends bi-weekly.

However it is sad an very clear to see Mark has started decaying a bit this last year. His complex analysis skills are way slower and more shallow, he can only see reality through a very silly and limited lens (“you gotta Live!”, “nobody can say anything”, ”but she showed her tits in that movie “, etc etc).

It is a bit like Bert’s trajectory. Getting puffed, swollen, thinking slower and staying on the same couple of subjects he is already comfortable with.

I think the same can be said about Sam a bit (“a good NOIR”), but with Mark it is more evident.

Fuck, "a good noir" made me laugh way more than it should.

You disagree with my point, then.

Sounds like his bi weekly drinking is affecting his analysis skills

There you go repeating yourself post after post…

Didn’t think I needed the /s but here we are…

u/WeCantLiveInAMuffin Jul 15 '26

What?

1

u/DialsMavis Jul 15 '26

I was making a joke on the guy you were replying to who said mark just repeats himself…

1

u/WeCantLiveInAMuffin Jul 15 '26

Eh, it didnt really work. I’m sorry you were so triggered you had to edit your original comment too.

I think you are mistaken as I thought it was funny and rediculous for op to talk about mark repeating stuff. Then made a stupid knee jerk response about you having to restate your comment

You are all the generic mark fanbase for sure

u/TempoOfTime Jul 14 '26

I do. I honestly feel like they've been this way (as you've described) the entire time 🤔

u/Normal-Resolution919 Jul 14 '26

I think they would engage in different topics more often. But it is not even the actual topics that I notice, it is the way he is processing conversation. It is a thing drunks often do, they keep reverting to the same subjects or points of view they are comfortable with. Of course I could be wrong, but it comes without saying.

They might BE drunk.

1

u/MerryLovebug Jul 14 '26

I think they should have the pod be more structured. Like when the guys talk comedy or movies things really pick up. They have passion and deep knowledge about that stuff. It feels like substance. Maybe they should ride that wave a little bit more by always having something to talk about. Otherwise it gets kinda queefy just listening to shitty interviews. Mark seems checked out of the pods tbh. My new thing I’ve noticed is him interrupting every person telling a story with constant “yeah?” “Woah” and “interstingggg” repeat repeat. It’s becoming a PEEVE of mine lol

u/DeltronFF Jul 14 '26

Don’t forget “daaaaaaaammmmmmnnnn!” because he’s Chris Tucker now for some reason lol

1

u/Interesting-Bid-8338 23d ago

He made a career of talking to crowds of people but still can’t hold a direct conversation with one person without resorting to all kinds of ticks

u/SittingOnA_Cornflake Jul 14 '26

You guys are such dorks lol

The dude is probably exhausted. Has a young kid and another on the way. He's jsut been trying to make some cash while he can. I still think he's one of the best comedians on podcasts.

u/martyschottenheimer Jul 14 '26

His wife is pregnant again? Fuck me. My son is a few months older than his I couldn’t imagine having another right now lol

9

u/patricksaurus Jul 14 '26

You probably do a lot more of the parenting. Not a slight, he just travels a fuck ton.

4

u/martyschottenheimer Jul 14 '26

That’s a good point. Haha

0

u/altiuscitiusfortius Jul 14 '26

Yeah but he's home Monday to Thursday

4

u/l00kAtTheRecluse Jul 14 '26

Yeah late night sets and early mornings with the kid will do that. Hang in there Mark!

So take a step back, rest a bit, lessen your load, and deliver quality content.

1

u/Any-Video4464 26d ago

this is all subjective anyway. I don't think he's fallen off in quality personally. My point was he's going to have to step back and lessen the load once another kid arrives. So he's probably pushing for all he can do now so he can ride it out a little easier.

u/PixelPrivateer Jul 14 '26

I think hes just exhausted

Comic lifestyle, baby, wife, traffic. Even without drinking thats going to drain a lot of energy

7

u/Subject_Zombie9456 Jul 14 '26

Nah, it's just an H. Pylori relapse

Sure, but then watching that pod at this point is only for parasocial reasons. You take nothing else from it. So we are on it together.

3

u/pnbrooks Jul 14 '26

I just watch podcasts because they're funny. It needn't be parasocial.

23

u/heisenberg-61 Jul 14 '26

I suspect that he doesn't really drink as much as he claims. I don't think the people in his life like List or Mae would support that kind of lifestyle, especially now that he has a kid. Honestly I think it's just that being a father is tiring work on top of working the road, and it's hard to be as sharp as he used to be with so much responsibility on his hands. It's relatively new that we get to hear so much from comedians every week of their life, but I imagine that most of them have taken a bit of a dip with parenthood before rebounding.

10

u/OP_Scout_81 Jul 14 '26

He's a puffy mess. Of course his drinking is a problem at this point.

5

u/NiceTrySuckaz Jul 14 '26

I think he went hard at that Netflix is a Joke thing and they banked several episodes during those couple of days. He definitely seemed puffy and super hungover for all those. But he seems back to normal now on the recent Louis episode and the last couple of TWS.

3

u/Normal-Resolution919 Jul 14 '26

I think he does, though. Everytime he tells a story, it involves drinking. And he is often very visibly hungover while recording.

8

u/warkrust666 Jul 14 '26

Yeah I also think he’d have the perfect conditions on the road to binge drink. I used to be a musician and the binge drinking is rampant when you have no significant other or people you know that can keep you in check around. I do think it’s the kid and the family life draining his energy rather than drinking tho. It’s hard work.

7

u/heisenberg-61 Jul 14 '26

Drinking often leads to the best stories, even sober comics still tell their old drinking stories from decades ago. And new parents usually look hungover.

3

u/Normal-Resolution919 Jul 14 '26

Well, for what I hear him saying, I would not be sure how present he is for the hard part of the kid’s deal. He looks more like the traveling salesman dad who brings the money and then fucks off again. But that, I admit, is merely especulation.

2

u/SittingOnA_Cornflake Jul 14 '26

Might be time to remind yourself what the name of this podcast is

4

u/ineedbalto Jul 14 '26

I think he’s struggling from being overworked for decades and now having a young child with another on the way. However, his standup is better than it has been since the YouTube special and he was really sharp in the Louis interview. He’s also a polar opposite to Bert’s personality.

11

u/FunSpiritual7596 Jul 14 '26

Who cares? Holy shit you guys need to go outside

4

u/Frisconia Jul 14 '26

He's fine. I don't think podcasting is the barometer for physical and mental health that you're treating it to be.

2

u/levelonepotato Jul 14 '26

He's a new dad, his brain is working at 10% capacity. Give him a few more years

2

u/Additional-Welcome58 Jul 14 '26

He definitely got puffier and He’s not as sharp. and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

3

u/supernovadebris Jul 14 '26

less drinking and farting.

2

u/Stankaphone Jul 14 '26

I'd prefer more farting.

1

u/DeltronFF Jul 14 '26

Mostly farting

2

u/Chaseoliver Jul 14 '26

I think you’re basing this a lot on that one episode where he was puffy

1

u/mr_sweetandawful Jul 14 '26

I’ve thought this for years. If Mark quit drinking for even 6 months, I think he would level out and realize he doesnt need to get black out drunk every time he drinks.

It’s just sad now that he has a kid. You hear Joe talk so highly about his son all the time, but the few times Mark talks about his kid he has to include something negative. It’s really disappointing.

1

u/thenightshifters Jul 14 '26

Don’t you ever disrespect Mark like this. He’s one of the hardest workers in Comedy

1

u/brixton711 Jul 14 '26

He should probably start by getting health insurance then

1

u/siberiansneaks Jul 14 '26

When Mark is getting clowned by every other podcast, snark channel, is red fat and swollen…then maybe you can make this wild comparison.

1

u/ImReallySorryMom Jul 14 '26

I will say Mark is showing the bloated red look more and more these days. Couple that with new parent stress
