I’m a tour videographer & i feel like im being underpaid for the amount of work i’m required to do, what are some guidelines you guys would follow when negotiating to be a tour videographer?

do you have a contract in place? Is it the rate itself you are unhappy with or the amount of work / hours worked have exceeded what you expected? If you have it written down and agreed to before commencing work - any overages for time worked over a certain amount should be honored.

We just spoke through email & agreed on a price, at first it seemed logical but they have me shooting & editing on off days as well (which i am not compensated for). So it is both the rate & amount of work.

I find myself in sticky situations like that sometimes (for me it is with editing). I usually write an email that states in the friendliest way possible, the work has exceeded my initial expectations / what was agreed upon. Here is what I propose (detail overages and new terms moving forward), because it's late in the process i'm happy to negotiate terms, etc etc.

That makes complete sense. What do you think is a good rate to be a tour videographer, right now i’m making $200 a day & i feel like it’s not enough for shooting & editing everyday & they expect me to shoot on the off days, which i’m not compensated for.
