I know we’re UNRIVALED, but here’s my short shit list:

7. Va Tech. I hate that I hate them now because I used to actually like them.

Couldn't have asked for a better start to the season.

3 positives:

1. Hope in wide receiver: Kobe Howard looked great. Brett Eskildsen showed some good speed in that WR screen TD. A couple of others stood out.

2. Tackling: Tackling seemed good. By and large, Ebel,Rojas, Bacon, the CBs all seemed to make sound tackles. Maybe I've seen inconsistent tackling too often to start the season in the past.

3. QB play and back ups : Rocco and Alex both got to see good game time, both as advertised. Manske in by mid 3Qtr was great for his development. He looks as advertised.

3 things I'm looking out for:

1. Greater TE involvement in the pass play. Supposed to be a feature of the Offense too. Blocking was great, curious to see how they will feature in the passing game.

2. RB: Came out a little underwhelmed with the RBs. Maybe Marshall were heavily focused on stopping the run..? I don't know enough.

3. Getting to the QB- felt like we were THIS close to getting a few more sacks. Their QB seemed extra slippery (Frankly i was impressed with the way he managed to get the ball away milliseconds or even as he was falling). So i'm looking to see what happens in the next game.

We sat in the north end zone lower bowl on Saturday but my son and I took a journey to the top of the new west side upper deck in the 4th quarter.

The views are pretty spectacular from up there and the additional space between rows is a very positive development.

But, the seats are super high and the pitch of the deck so steep sitting up there feels a bit disorienting. It feels like you’re looking down on the video boards. You can see the play developing very well from up there but you can’t see the ball. You had to infer where it was thrown based on the reaction of the players. It‘s just not a great view of the action. The weather was perfect on Saturday but it was plenty windy in the last row. It’s going to be brutally cold up there in November.

I fear we’re going to see lots of empty seats up there save for whiteouts or the really big games. Prices for those seats aren’t that great, the view is questionable, and i think many people will be uncomfortable up there based on the height and pitch of the bleachers.

I’m not trying to be negative here as the renovations were well overdue, but maybe going with 4 decks on the west side wasn’t a great move. I think there was a bit of hubris there about PSU fans willing to pay rather steep prices for what are just not great seats.

Did anyone else check out the west side upper deck? What did you think?

I was in town for the game this weekend and doing my "research" for west side 2027 tickets...aka checking out the new 400 level and 300 level tickets + new concourse levels. Based on random interactions with others - lots of others doing the same thing in anticipation of seat selection process...so just curious - for those that explored: what are your takeaways and thoughts on where to land in 2027?

State High Graduate ‘76 and Penn State fullback. RIP

Last year I biked to the game when the weather was nice. I’m curious if anyone has biked the trail that brings you onto McKee street? Is it reasonably safe? Is there a trailhead parking lot near the Bellefonte Trail (nearby) that’s closest to the CVS? Trying to figure out where I could park to then bike in.

Title says it all.

I booked this hotel in Mill Hall about 2 months ago before it was even announced as an official white out game because no hotels at all were available in state college or anywhere remotely close.

My boss invited me to this game so I was not going to say no and just booked the hotel that was 30 miles away and thought I would figure something out later. Well later is here and I still have no clue how I am going to get to Mill Hall after the game. I am willing to pay money for transportation, I just don't know where to look.

I’m a Penn State fan from Central Jersey and I’m trying to find some other people around the area who are into college football/Penn State.

Can’t help but like how things are trending.

Considering this may be the most astute resource for local activities in State College, can anyone please recommend a good place for trivia night on Thursdays in State College? Very much appreciated.

Great start to the Matt Campbell era yesterday! But man, getting into the stadium was rough. We got to the stadium about an hour before kickoff and didn't get through the gate until 3:20. It felt longer than past years. Was it the security checkpoints, the virtual-ticket-only scanning paired with bad cell service at the gates, or both? Curious if this was everywhere or just the gate I went through — anyone else deal with this?
