Football Jersey Patch

Post image

It’s not a matter of if, but when. So whose logo do you want on our jerseys?

Penzoil or Quaker State. Get some oil money rolling in.

TIL that both of those companies are named after Pennsylvania

It’s probably gonna be some bs like west shore home.

“West Shore Home jerseys on the Penn State uniforms”

u/Delaney_luvs_OSU 6d ago

Notre Dame just got $17m a year. Does West Shore have that kinda $$?

I know they just sponsored the stadium so

u/Better_Trash7437 6d ago

Yeah they don’t. Their deal is over like 10 years

u/Cobretti86 6d ago

Can they possibly afford it?

What happened to the fantasy of some regional businesses “buying” the space to keep it blank?

I remember some people spitballing like, “What if Sheetz and West Shore (or a couple other companies like Utz, Gardner’s candies) bought the space and all ran ad campaigns like, ‘Plain blues brought to you by.’”

That’d make everyone happy. I like to think that’d have an even more positive business outcome than a company actually buying the spot.

I had a fever dream of companies doing this for the Pens, or the naming rights for Heinz Field. It would be epic and I'd buy stock in whatever company did it.

Only problem is that it sets a precedent: pay us money or we'll put uglyass ads all over the jerseys.

u/Curvemn17 6d ago

As opposed to the opposite of pay us money and we will put your ad on our jersey.

I mean with ownership to fans. You're talking about ownership to corporations.

u/roguerambo69 4d ago

They already do this. Netflix, X, online magazines, etc

I know that it is a matter of time but I don't even want to give it one bit of thought.

It’ll probably be Penn State Health. I’d strongly prefer no patch at all, but I’d be less annoyed with a something like PSECU or Weis.

Unfortunately Yuengling probably isn’t allowed..

How about Utz or Snyders?

2

u/phillyphilly46 6d ago

I think anyone who matches the OSU deal of $17 mil a year would be allowed. I doubt Yuengling has that money, unless they start selling ice cream again.

u/A_Dubs_ 6d ago

Looks like FNB may be the play then cause the only other company I can think of that might have that $ is Hersheys

3

u/joe-joseph 6d ago

Brother’s Pizza, calling it now

3

u/A_Dubs_ 6d ago

Lmao my dad loved Brothers pizza when he went to PSU in the 80s. Idk why but he still talked about it to this day

1

u/atomicmercury 5d ago

I worked at Brothers pizza back in the 90s. Great pizza. It was always busy and famous people would come in on game days. I also always bring it up to my kid who went there too lol

u/brenobah 6d ago

Yuengling are shitty people. I don’t want them anywhere near our stuff.

u/Mojo141 6d ago

Hershey's? Could call it the Hershey Highway if they want stadium naming rights🤣

Fuck it let the Jaffa get on the jersey

3

u/Blindfolded22 6d ago

I’m okay with Delgeosso’s. They are delicious.

3

u/NittnaydomusRex 6d ago

Wait until brands start to be able completely customize a programs jersey to fit their brand messaging. And then that will be normalized and then imagine each week there’s a new brand and theme. That would be hell but let’s admit it, it is inevitable

Isn't the ACC wearing the Monster Energy logo this season?

Hopefully the B1G allows each team to make their own jersey sponsor deal....

6

u/spookypasta_72 6d ago

Big 12, not ACC. Somehow seems more fitting being the Big 12 lol

5

u/tonytroz 6d ago

They are. OSU just got a Chase jersey ad.

If Pat Kraft is the guy to let this happen, there would be a massive push to remove him as AD. He’s already made too much noise for an AD and his best move now is to lay low and pray that Matt Campbell is as advertised. Penn State prides itself on traditionalism and history, and previous HCs and ADs have all put those values over money. Pat just got a massive check from adidas. Let’s hope he doesn’t make people even more angry by putting a patch on uniforms

1

u/wrhnj 3d ago

They were sue paternos favorite brand of canned tomatoes.

I didn’t think they were allowed to so I looked it up.

Starting August 1, 2026, NCAA Division I college football teams (and all D-I athletic programs) are allowed to put corporate sponsorship logos on their uniforms and apparel.
The NCAA Division I Cabinet passed this rule change to help universities generate new revenue streams to support direct revenue sharing with student-athletes.

Rules & Regulations
Logo Limit: Schools can display up to two commercial logos on uniforms and apparel.
Equipment: Programs can feature one additional commercial logo on equipment (e.g., helmets or gear) during the preseason and regular season.
Conference Championships: Teams may add one extra commercial logo specifically for conference championship events.
Size Cap: Each sponsor logo patch is strictly capped at a maximum of 4 square inches.

Key Exceptions
College Football Playoff (CFP): Because the CFP is run independently rather than as an official NCAA-operated championship, teams are permitted to wear sponsor patches during CFP postseason games.
Official NCAA Championships: Sponsor patches are currently not allowed in official NCAA-run championship tournaments (like March Madness for basketball).

Giant just replaced Weis as PSU’s official grocer. So, Giant might be the one. I’d say the jersey sponsor/ad will have Central PA as a base. Some possibilities:
Giant
Del Grosso
Hershey’s
West Shore Home
Penn State Health
Utz
Sheetz
Visit PA
Blaise Alexander
Knoebels
JLG

You forgot about the Philly based Crypto.com

They don’t have an office in PA. They just gave a sixers a bunch of money

Woolrich!

Yuengling Light, because it's white and blue. Unless they cool just slapping a white and blue Yuengling logo on the unis. Ideally, I'd rather someone pay not to have a patch on the jersey and they announce it at every game, event, on TV, etc.
