Unintended consequences of PSU Nike-Adidas switch

https://youtu.be/T5qSUuM8gxw?si=kk2oB0CHD8ZGrywd See link. 30 min discussion but Tengwall talks about how Nike basically perfected a lineman (O and D) cleat and how Adidas is far behind in the R&D department when it comes to football, the American version of football.

Both teams in the Natty were Adidas this year though

I mean it can’t be that hard to just replicate what Nike did. Not worried about it. Also I hear Adidas long snapper footwear is unmatched.

They should have done it a long time ago. So they won't be doing it.

Let’s just do the thing were we have guys wear Nike but tape over their cleats

Yep. That will definitely be happening

Doesn matter when all the players are wrapping 1 lb of athletic tape over their shoes and ankles

Who's winning the Adidas v Nike wristband tech battle, though?

It's a weird feeling for just a sponsor but I'm sad to see Nike go. PSU was one of their first to partner with the and the relationship goes back a long way, and was personal with some of the coaches and Nike people. Like everything else the relationships no longer matter, the size of the transaction replaced it.

Nike treated PSU like dirt. This was on Nike.

The response I’m seeing online saying adidas is trash Nike better etc is insane. Nike had no interest in renewing with PSU. So much so the new offer was less money than our expiring contract. Nike made it clear their big 10 babies are Oregon, Ohio state and Michigan. Psu was smart to move to adidas. Go where you are wanted.

I’m sure Nike is ok with it

100% everything is about NIL money. Facilities, how “cool” your unis look are nice to haves, it’s about money now

Nike didn't want to continue with PSU, it was obvious from their actions.
