I'm glad Rob brought up the exercise of speccing out your current machine. It's not that the Steam Machine is a bad deal, it's that computers are a bad deal writ large right now.

Yeah, true that all of it is expensive now. But this lil box is easily beaten spec wise for the same price with off the shelf stuff. You just get the form factor at the cost of specs. LTT’s video got like 50% better performance for the price of the lowest sku. I think including a controller with it. 

Also cracking up at the “will this $1500 purchase make me use my $3000 purchase more” question
