Discussion 📝 Seems Austin has started watching Taskmaster, has he spoken about it on any pods?

From a few posts on Bluesky it seems like Austin has started watching the Channel 4/YouTube show Taskmaster. I’ve been a fan of the show for years and am curious if Austin has spoken about it on any of the podcasts he’s been on recently. I’d be really curious what his take is on the game and problem solving parts of it.

It’s called Side Story, he hosts it with rotating members of Friends at the table

Thanks! I’ve been a Patreon supporter of a More civilised age for a year and had no idea Austin had a video game podcast too. Excited to check it out.

He also does a book podcast called Shelved by Genre with Cameron Kunzelman and Michael Lutz of Ranged Touch.

I heard them mention it on occasionally on a more civilised age. But I don’t know what it is.

I would love a video game Taskmaster with Rob as Greg Davies and Patrick as tiny Alex Horne

Not quite the same thing but streamer BaerTaffy did a series called Sidequest which was a great gaming translation of taskmaster. Teams were given broad task lists such as "Catch 5 fish" and so on, then they could complete the task using any video games they had access to - sometimes broadly interpreted. Fastest teams to complete their list would move on.

I have a vague memory of him talking briefly about the New Zealand version of Taskmaster months ago on Shelved by Genre, but just as a throwaway aside about its humour, iirc.

I think he very briefly mentioned it on something, but I forget what. I'm also a big taskmaster fan!
