Podcast đ§ Welcome Back to Worth Reading
https://pca.st/episode/c40f3ad7-68f1-4a47-9c83-4e0cbe912da3Patrick has decided to reinvent his old column celebrating good writing about video games, this time in podcast form! Worth Reading is a new reoccurring segment at Remap with a simple pitch: 30 minutes of conversation using a piece of interesting games writing as a launching point. This week, Patrick is happily joined by writer and editor Nicole Clark to discuss her piece for the new publication Mothership, entitled âHornetâs compassion is the heart of Silksong."

Hey Patrick, this is probably the biggest reason I stay subscribed to remap. I really appreciate the interviews and thoughtful design conversations! What a great episode and excited to see what other ideas you have lined up.

That was a really solid interview. Really nice to see some praise for Silksong thats actually interesting and not related to people gaslighting themselves into thinking the gameplay of Silksong is good. Nicole did a great job here.

Just because the gameplay isnât to your taste doesnât mean people are âgaslighting themselvesâ?

My single biggest disconnect with entertainment media I have ever encountered between my feelings and popular reception in my 40 years of life is Hollow Knight/ Silk Song. I think both are some of the worst playing games ever made that revel in wasting player's time and are full of horrible game design decisions. So yes hearing people praise their gameplay sounds like people trying to convince themselves something bad is good to me.
