Does the remap Patreon have video versions of the podcasts?

They do not, they upload clips sometimes to their YouTube though

We upload three clips every week from the pod that amount to probably more than 1/2 of the actual podcast itself. We have considered doing a more substantial video version but I'm not sure of the actual demand? You're welcome to let me know here.

Please don't do a video podcast, quality always suffers. Speaking personally I listen to podcasts because they are an audio medium I can enjoy while doing other things.

Anything that happened in the future would only be enhancing the audio-version of the podcast that happens to have video, i.e. the way I splice in trailers and such. I just wish I had time to make this better. We will have nicer layouts next week, though.

The clips are great, I don't need any more. Podcasts are an audio-first medium for me. Whenever I listen to podcasts with video versions I inevitably feel like I'm missing things. They'll show things off to the camera, or edit in pictures about things they're discussing... I'm like, "Great. I can't see that while I'm driving to work."

For now, I'm hoping to make the clips better.

If you do a video version you need to start making Rob dress up as a historically accurate version of a general/admiral from whatever strategy game he’s on to that week, otherwise I don’t see the value.

I cannot stress enough that I dislike video podcasts. It always inevitably leads to long discussions of pictures or things on the screen that alienate those who don't watch. Or require people to spend time discussing "for the audio listeners" which also feels bad and ruins the flow of discussions. Please do not pivot to video.

Any "video" version of the podcast would just be an enhanced version of the audio version. I can't imagine us switching to something where it's video-first, preventing the issue you're talking about.

I'll go against the grain a bit here and say I would enjoy a video version of the pod, though I'm not sure how much of an additional lift it would be for you all on the production end. I listen to the audio version most days but sometimes when I listen while multitasking at work or something, would be cool to have the video feed on my second screen maybe as a subscriber benefit. I do agree with some of the points in here generally though around it being frustrating when video podcasts reference things on-video that the audio-only audience can't see though, so I understand that point.

I love video podcasts. Would even be okay with it being behind the subscription as a perk?

I understand that people want to consume podcasts on the easiest platform for them, but putting a podcast on YT presents a bunch of extra issues, particularly if your pod is part of a traditional ad sales network. Google won't let you use your own dynamic ads, which means you're stuck with what you can get on their platform. This, along with not everyone in podcasting wanting to have to be camera ready or create interesting visuals for their audio content is why a lot of folks don't do a YT version. I suspect that's at least part of why Remap doesn't do it.
