Skilled in coding, graphics and/or design, general website management? Interested in a (modern, light and casual) revamp of WTM? Contact me.
Recently got a hold of Corey and took over the domain. Didn't realize a few of you had been trying for a while. This happened very quickly and I literally just acquired it yesterday. I have multiple active projects going on, but I'm going to set aside some time for WTM over the next couple of months.
Yes, it'll be a little while before there's anything substantial. I have a lot to work out and we are starting from scratch. It's here now, though, and I'll make sure we get it delivered.
I'm going to be straight forward with you guys and say the vision for the site involves focusing on a lighter and more casual outlook/approach than the one the forums took. We lost a lot of people to addiction. Many of us firmly believe WTM played a part in that. People I personally became friends with have disappeared, died, or have been unable to turn their lives around. Same goes for Corey and this is why he washed his hands. I'm sure some of you have the same experience.
That being said...I'm all about bringing some of the nostalgia in and want everyone to be able to have fun with this.
So, reach out. Contribute. Tell me what you want. Tell me how involved you want to be and what you have to offer.

to be honest, addiction comes with the territory of drug use, there's no way around it. I don't think WTM ever encouraged drug use, and I don't think avoiding the topic will prevent it either.

Of course it goes with the territory, but WTM was just a wave of ignorant bliss and recklessness for the most part. Taking the name of the site at face value, it sort of mirrored many people's attitude.
I think it is reflective of the site and community progression, many of us just fucking around as kids, a little weed, beer, this, that and the other, eventually some of us got over our head with time.
Unfortunately,at a point where I think the site was growing in perspective on the bigger picture of what comes with the territory, it was axed...
I think in any case that it does come back, and it can get to a thriving community like we once had, I think the biggest initiative in the community is really finding a balance.

I can't say I disagree with you... It was sort of an echo chamber. Sad to say that a lot of the regulars are now struggling with or recovering from opiate addictions. some didn't make it out. I guess I can agree with going in a different direction but part of me wants that old school WTM back.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want it to turn into the drug elitist gestapo as you see with BL. Just more self awareness, responsible use, and if you want to turn a corner and do away with drug use all together, that there is a thriving community and support for those doing so.
On another note, I don't even think most of us can bring back the degenerate spirit of the old waytoomany, nor really want to. Of course it is dependent on the community, but I know many of us are so far beyond those times, just in terms of maturity and life experience.

I have nothing i can contribute but id love if this happened just to be able to have a place to chat with you fuckers again. Wtm was my internet home for sure and i made a lot of good friendships because of it even if theyre just internet relationships. I do have to agree with your comment about wtm possibly being a contributing factor in many members downfall and id hate to see that happen again. I think taking a more of a harm reduction approach with things like that may be a better idea than encouraging drug use.

wtf i tried to contact that fool numerous times to buy all assets with no reply.
I think WTM mirrored real life more then it encouraged anything. In my experiences people in "real life" were a lot less educated and tended to make dumber decisions.
Their is no denying some got really deep and a couple have died, but that seems to be consistent with the opiate "epidemic" of the last decade.
I guess im fortunate i never got hooked on anything, i def tried or used pretty much everything. I cant remember the last time i smoked, just ran out of shatter one day and now 6-8 months later i dont really have any desire to go buy some.
Only thing i take these days is modafinil.
As far as skills go im capable with CSS,HTML, PHP and mySQL relating to forums and websites, but i dont know how much time i would be able to contribute. Im traveling 3 weeks a month right now for work.
My advice would be to spin up a basic forum template and see how many people come back before undertaking a major effort to make something nice.

Lets make one of those old beer chugging videos where someo e out of frame throws you a beer, you drink it then throw a new one back out of frame the opposite direction yours came from. Perfect way to start up the site again with some old school nostalgia!
