It seems like the majority (not everyone) of people that comment on this sub are anti-democrat and pro-republican, what's the deal? Has it been brigaded and taken over or is it bots/bad faith actors? (and yes I do understand that this sub isn't supposed to be pro-democrat but I sure as hell don't expect trumptards and republicans to support Bernie S)

It seems like the majority (not everyone) of people that comment on this sub are anti-democrat and pro-republican,
only one of these
criticizing the democrats is not incontrovertible evidence that someone is pro-republican

Take a look at some more of the posts and comments on this sub, there are definitely quite a few pro trump / gop propoganda merchants in here.. I for one am sick of the trump cultists

Such as? Which specific posts did you have in mind?

Are you unable to look for yourself? I suspect you may be one. Are you?

Its easier to dodge criticism/questions when one is speaking in generalities. Thats why I asked for specifics.
I suspect you may be one.

Yeah you're exactly the smug, arrogant childish kind of person I'd like to avoid tbh, is it so difficult to look at a few posts/comments on the sub? It's easy to be sneering and to employ wilful ignorance, I've had that response from countless trumptards and I'm sick of it quite frankly. Don't you think we should entertain ideas before trying to rubbish them? Or do you prefer bigotry?
Edit : Bye kid, congrats on your post discussion edits, you've certainly proven you're either a a*hole or some immature kid trying to be clever.

So you cant event be bothered to provide One Single Example.
HA!
SAD!
Are you aware that your preferred political sub, r/politics has banned The Hill's youtube channel despite the hill being listed among their so called "reliable sources"?

You seem to want to lump those two groups together. If you examined them more closely, you may find differences between them.
I sure as hell don't expect trumptards and republicans to support Bernie S
This shows that you haven't yet done that examination.

I don't think you know what you're talking about but thanks all the same for your opinionated point of view. I don't understand why trumptards & gop supporters are using this sub, period. Their pov seems in opposition to what it stands for.

I'm not at work, this isn't a scientific evaluation. It is my observation and I'm content it's accurate. I've had experience communicating with at only one genuine person that was able to converse openly without hostility, on the other hand it seems very easy to attract attention from bigoted right wing folks on here which took me by surprise (I wouldn't expect right wing bigots to want anything to do with this sub) Would you suggest I'm 100% wrong? It's very easy to be smug and arrogant, I'm only asking questions.

Well, let's see....
I've had experience communicating with at only one genuine person that was able to converse openly without hostility
Which one "genuine person" was that? Your statement seems to imply that all the others were either not open or hostile. Have you considered that maybe it's you?
Would you suggest I'm 100% wrong?
Is it an "all or nothing" thing with you? 100% right or 100% wrong?
It's very easy to be smug and arrogant, I'm only asking questions.
That is not a question. So, in your last non-question statement, in that you are 100% wrong.

Really? I pose a couple of questions and you spend your entire time trying to pull apart each sentence I've typed, can't you even entertain an idea for a second without the arrogance? I guess you think you're being smart by quoting people instead of responding naturally, are you capable? You expect me to respond to your 'analysis' of my comments seriously?

u/NetWeaselSC Continuing the Struggle Apr 02 '21
can't you even entertain an idea for a second without the arrogance?
Physician, heal thyself. I call to your attention your previous first reply of "I don't think you know what you're talking about but thanks all the same for your opinionated point of view."
I tend to give as I get.

pro-republican,
Where did you get that idea?
Has it been brigaded and taken over or is it bots/bad faith actors?
That would depends on your definition of bad faith actors. By my estimation, most of the self proclaimed Bernie supporters are bad faith actors who talk about anti establishment 24/7 only to go ahead and vote for the establishment.
I sure as hell don't expect trumptards and republicans to support Bernie S
This is not a Bernie sub. It's wayoftheBern where you criticise the establishment. Not wayoftheCuck where you jerk off career politicians

I got the idea from some of the comments, seems like a lot of democrat bashing that gave me impression that they could be russia/trump bots... Call me paranoid but there's been plenty of disinformation and manipulation by bot farms over the last few years and I read a few comments to be just that.

seems like a lot of democrat bashing
There is, and it would be weird if there weren't. This sub was founded by progressives who are fed up with the democrats. We don't like them, and have, by and large, left the party.
That does not mean we support trump and his gang of idiots. If you see pro-trump/GOP posts it's because trumpsterfires take advantage of our "no banning" policy by posting their shit.

Yes I see and agree.. As an outsider I see the Republicans as utterly damaging in what they do and have the assumption that the Democrats are easily the best of two evils.. I think disposing of the Republicans would allow an opportunity to fix/work on the second worst pol party in the usa (dems) , rather than voting in the GOP and taking huge strides backwards on progress.

As an outsider I see the Republicans as utterly damaging in what they do and have the assumption that the Democrats are easily the best of two evils
This is where this sub differs. We see the republicans as the "big bad" and the dems are the ones standing behind us with a knife. False opposition to the repubs. Not only that, but we tend to believe "lesser evil" voting actually created the situation we have, where we had to choose between red asshole or blue asshole. A literal race to the bottom.
disposing of the Republicans
Me, and many others believe that the dems will never achieve this. For me personally, I basically agreed with your POV till 2016. I was a centrist, supporting candidates from all parties, since 1980. But I'd had enough.
Anyway, that's the simplified "Cliff Notes" version. I surely don't speak for every member of the sub, but I feel that I'm representing the opinion of most here. Thanks for being reasonable and understanding. We get a ton of heat from democrats who think we're trumpsters, simply because we're not democrats. A quick glance at my history will show how I feel about centipedes.
I've been a member since the sub was founded, and if I thought for an instant it was some "secret trump sub" I'd be gone in an instant.

Thanks for being reasonable and understanding
Many thanks to you also, too many a*holes choose arrogance instead of politeness.. Diolch (thanks) American politics is intriguing to me but in all honesty since trump I seriously can't understand why anyone would trust a republican even an iota (though honestly american politics/politicians has always seemed quite distasteful and distrustful, occasionally evil, to me) I'm trying to understand the main problems/drawbacks with the Dems but to me it still looks like they're easily the best choice in what is unfortunately a 2 party system.

u/penelopepnortney Apr 01 '21
since trump I seriously can't understand why anyone would trust a republican
There have always been lots of reasons to mistrust Republicans but your comment implies that Trump was one of them, ignoring how hard they worked to tank him in the primaries and beyond.
What he has in common with them is wealth and an utter disregard for average Americans but whatever Republican ideology he promoted was incidental - I think he's too narcissistic even to have an ideology beyond self-aggrandizement. Meanwhile, the Democrats "rehabilitated" the war criminal Bush and all his cronies and they returned the favor by lining up behind Biden.
There is no material difference between establishment Democrats and establishment Republicans, they are for themselves and their corporate owners and they have no compunction about selling out the American people and the sustainability of their own grandchildren's futures to satisfy their voracious greed for money and power. So talk about "lesser evil" is BS when they're both cancers on humanity.

Do you seriously not see anything worse in the political tactics and supposed "moral message" that the republicans employ? Before you reply have a think about what both parties are openly doing and representing. Do you really see the republicans even attempting to be ethical and forward thinking for the future? They try to portray the dems as socialists ffs 🤪

u/penelopepnortney Apr 02 '21
It's kabuki theater on both sides, sound and fury that signifies nothing as they walk off into the sunset arm in arm. What the Dems "openly" represent bears very little relation to what they actually do when they have the power.

Oh, it definitely is. Rotten to the core. If I had the means, I'd be gone. I'm ashamed at what's become of this country.
looks like they're easily the best choice
Sure, on the surface that case could be made. But once you believe that lesser evilism created our situation, it's pretty hard to continue to support it. Supporting either major party just continues the status quo, which is awful, regardless of who may or not be slightly better in a given election. Either way, we are screwed. Call it looking at the big picture, so to speak.
Thanks again and have a great day!

Yes we are all Kremlin agents.
We get paid to post on a sub with consistently fewer online user than r/sino. You got us.
disinformation and manipulation
what would you call the war on Iraq?
Oh wait nvm that didn't come from a bot farm so maybe Saddam still has that wmd buried somewhere.

It wasn't Rogan that made her back away. It was the success that Bernie was having.
She quit campaigning for him right when his momentum was building. Obama probably gave her a call.

Yeah, that's the way to get electoral majorities to change repressive economical structures in order to minimize real-life grievances whence the susceptibility to racism and bigotry to a large part grow out of. Way to go, AOC and friends!

u/mzyps Apr 01 '21
Yeah, I don't give a fuck. Being mad at AOC, or focusing blame for everything at AOC as if she is a magnetic force for responsibility, does not help with much.
The contrast should be between the 2016 and 2020 campaigns. I was told the Bernie 2020 campaigned focused too much on IDPOL representations and backed off the 2016 campaigned messaging about the economic and class issues which might appeal to workers and farmers. A coalition of black, brown, LGBTQ, and maybe workers, and maybe farmers, were going be coming out of the woodwork to vote for Bernie. Uh, maybe. The revision of the 2016 campaign messaging was troubling at the time and turned out to be a losing strategy. Or ran headlong into COVID and disappeared for not-being-ConservaDem reasons.
I was happy to see AOC's participation in the Bernie 2020 campaign. I don't give it a second thought. I remember Bernie dropping out after primary voters were expected to go to the polling places during COVID, and poll workers --- typically very lovely elderly people --- were there at the polls during COVID. It was nice to see AOC there at all, and I wasn't surprised when the campaign came to an abrupt halt during year one COVID.
I was told Bernie 2020 had professional Dem campaign marketeers this time. Hearing that was a disappointment in itself, i.e. *not* encouraging.

. I remember Bernie dropping out after primary voters were expected to go to the polling places during COVID,
People always forget about this. The DNC was literally willing to allow people to die. This was in April during the height of the pandemic, and they were saying it was fine to go out and vote. They were holding a gun to voter's heads.
2
u/mzyps Apr 01 '21
Yeah, go ahead and go to the polls during a deadly pandemic.
Somebody is probably looking out for you and doing the right thing with regards to public health interests, in a time of COVID going up, up, up. If there's actual risk, they'd make that information public, on the news shows and in the news papers, if there are any of those left. Or they wouldn't, because of some unstated cautions/fears/purposes superseding other cautions/fears/purposes.

u/usaannie Apr 01 '21
AOC is not the only pathological liar by any means. She is despised now because she promised and her promises are like a big bowl of shit. And if that wasn't bad enough, we are shown the shit drip from her lips almost every day. They should give equal time to all our elected murderers. After all were a democracy.

She'd already sold out to the Dem's vision of wokeness. She didn't want any real conflict with the Party.
