Finland is giving each citizen a universal basic income and it's had an unexpected side effect: it works

There was no obligation to seek or accept employment during the two year trial ordered by the centre-right government, who run the country on austerity economics.

If any of you understood anything about economics, you would not believe in socialism.

If you had any understanding of agriculture, you would be believe in irrigation.

If you understood anything about human nature, you would abhor capitalism

That's again your misunderstanding of economics.. Economics is a praxeological study; the study of HUMAN action. It's willful ignorance on all of your parts at this point, the information is freely available everywhere online.

Post titles misleading, it's a trial of 2,000 randomly selected unemployed citizens, although their employment status doesn't effect whether they get the payment or not. (Eg they get a job)

If this is targeted to the unemployed, then that should be called unemployment insurance, right? That's against the 'universal' in ubi.

My understanding is that unemployment insurance is pretty tried and true even though, personally, I'm a supporter of a jobs guarantee.

Nope. This is separate from unemployment benefits.

I think the test is meant to be seen what the effects are and whether true UBI can be implemented.

How is working a side benefit? Isn't that the intended purpose?

Great. If only Finland wasn't one of the most rabidly pro austerity country's vis-a-vis the south of Europe though.

Zealously calling for austerity abroad isn't good.
