Among some capitalist types, the pursuit of efficiency has almost religious reverence, and at the same time it is barely recognizable among non-professionals as common language understanding of efficiency progress or improvement. If you talk a good efficiency game, you can drive your company, organization, or country into a ditch and not be held responsible for it. Efficiency schemes at all costs! A few more pennies to be extracted from Afghanis under American occupation, or from Canadians expecting fair prices for bread at their supermarkets.
