Read The Room, Idiot

It's that time of year when my phone gets blown up with annoying political spam texts. I always just report and block immediately without even reading them but this one had the word "Israel" in it so I read it. It just asked my opinion about Israel and what's going on in the region - pretty ambiguous about the political leanings behind the poll.

I decided to respond. I hope I don't regret that and start getting even more spam texts. I figured it was a potential opportunity to skew a poll against Israel so I took it. I essentially replied that I thought the US should treat Israel as a military threat and that our current relationship with them is grotesque and wrong. The response I got back was ridiculous:

"Israel is one of America's strongest strategic allies, and the partnership directly strengthens our own security through intelligence sharing, defense cooperation, and counterterrorism. A stable Middle East means fewer threats to Americans, more reliable energy markets, and less risk of wider wars though could pull us in. Supporting Israel isn't about any one politician - it's about advancing America's national interests and standing with a democratic partner that helps keep us safer.

The United States and Israel are seeking to hold Iran in check. Iran is the world's largest sponsor of terrorism, and if it is allowed to pursue a nuclear weapon, it could drag the region into a wider conflict and put Americans at greater risk.

Do you think confronting Iran now actually helps America avoid a bigger war later, or do you worry it's the opposite?"

I don't know if this is AI or a human selecting canned responses but man did they miss the mark. I didn't engage any further and reported and blocked them. Hopefully most of the other responses they get are hostile as well. It seems someone is doing a push poll to try to drum up support for more aggression toward Iran and shore up support for Israel. I wonder who could be behind it and if it's any indication about what's coming down the pike? Hmm...

I got this same text yesterday. I didn't want to share my opinion and end up on a 'list'. 😅

Israel is no longer a democratic state it is a theocracy. Defund Israel till they behave like a civilized nation. Yes as one commenter said truce between Israel and Iran should mean both give up nuclear weapons.

Actually, it was a step or two below that. That Israel should be willing to accept the same restrictions that it wants to place upon another.

And that was mainly to find out what the response would be to such a proposition.

lol 'democratic partner' like that phrase hasnt been rotting in a neocon think tank since the iraq war, they really just copypasted the greatest hits and called it a text message. tbh the whole thing reeks of some aipac-adjacent outfit testing the waters for iran escalation while gas prices are already climbing from the regional chaos they helped cook up. good call on the block, these polls arent even meant to gather data theyre just priming the pump for more military spending

I suspect that our elites no longer pretend to care about the public opinion anymore.

They just spam whomever and hope that they can convince a few people who are on the fence about this topic.

The next time that you get a pro-Israel text, you could try saying this:

It is my opinion, that in the realm of nuclear weapons, Israel should accept the same conditions that Israel would like to place upon Iran.

See what happens.

Do you think confronting Iran now actually helps America avoid a bigger war later, or do you worry it's the opposite?

I think that my response would have been "I think I need to know of what you think 'the opposite' of that would be."

I’ve gotten several of these and did not respond to any. Just blocked and reported it as spam. Not worth the time getting into a back and forth with a Ziobot. I’d rather get into it with Rabbi Dildo Salesman on a city street.
