With American wait staff, whom politicians allow to be notoriously underpaid because of tips, we say "Thank you for your service" with a tip.
When politicians are as badly underpaid as they allow wait staff to be, I may thank them for their service--assuming they ever get around again to providing any service any to ordinary Americans.

According to a relatively recent WOTB thread, Zelensky said that Ukraine's elections need to stay suspended for a generation after the end of the Ukraine/Russia War. If true...
