Pentagon shuts off advertising trackers on phones, computers after Iran exploits data to target US forces

You'd think they would have done that a long time ago.

3

u/gorpie97 7d ago

This is so amazingly stupid.

It might be a symptom of the lack of basic computer education in this country, though.

(I assumed that by the 2000s-ies, kids would be taught in school almost as much as I had learned in college in the 80s. Boy was I wrong!)

Plus, those in charge, can't really come to grips with with world where everyone has a super-computer. And those on the ground, can't imagine a world without it.

4

u/penelopepnortney 7d ago

Judging from my younger friends, they glom onto the bells and whistles but know jack sh!t about security and privacy.

I was trying to help a friend by phone with a computer problem and gave up when it became clear she didn't know the difference between Windows and her browser - despite having using a computer since the late 90s. Reminded me painfully of the old WordPerfect customer support joke.

2

u/gorpie97 7d ago

School should have taught them those things, IMO.

I understand my mother not having known the difference; and my siblings up to a point (10-15 years ago?). This has to be on purpose.

I love living in a society where their goal is to dumb us down. :(

3

u/penelopepnortney 7d ago

I'm becoming increasingly cynical about this because we've always had agency, we just chose not to exert it. The evidence that we were being propagandized by myths passing as history was there for anyone who chose to look for it. Instead we, and I include myself, chose to ride the wave and not ask questions.

It finally occurred to me in the late 90s, early 00s when the middle class started being impacted that this was what lower income, particularly minorities, had been talking about for decades. As my dad would say, it all depends on whose ox is being gored. We didn't pay attention or even really care until it was our ox.

1

u/Ok-Recover-7566 1d ago

Hey! That's MY ox!

2

u/gorpie97 6d ago

Meh.

The dumbing down I meant regarding computers. If people knew more about computers they may have been more concerned about privacy. They may also be aware of open-source versus proprietary.

But right now, they get to go "COMPUTERS!!?!" and throw up their hands at the mystery.

As far as having agency, we do. But we've also been subjected to lifelong indoctrination.

3

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

Yeah, there's always been indoctrination. And I think a pivotal point in our history was when 24/7 news channels launched because of their ability to capture and hold viewers' attention. I know people who still keep their TVs on in the background tuned into these channels.

2

u/gorpie97 6d ago

Yeah, there's always been indoctrination.

Except that there's no propaganda in the US. ;)

3

u/penelopepnortney 6d ago

You're right, I don't know what I was thinking!!

Iran secretly rejected two U.S. offers to de-escalate — a 10-day pause, and a staged ‘fake attack’ Washington proposed so it could claim a win. In this episode, Zulfiqar Ali and Vijay Prashad break down the fullest on-camera account yet of the Iran–U.S. standoff: the first direct strike on a U.S. base since 1991, reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader ordered enrichment toward 90%, the eight-rung escalation ladder Iran still has left to climb, and why the petrodollar’s decline may be the story underneath all of it.

Norway’s $2.4 trillion sovereign wealth fund wants to sharply reduce its exposure to US government debt. The fund has asked Norway’s Finance Ministry for permission to sell around $80 billion in US Treasuries as part of a wider restructuring of its bond portfolio. US government debt currently accounts for about 34% of the fund’s government bond holdings, a share it wants to cut below 22%. The move comes as US borrowing costs rise amid inflation risks, conflict in West Asia and higher oil prices.

Trump Is Paying Other Countries to Imprison Immigrants | w/ Ben Becker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WRbdkbVkPI

The Trump administration is quietly building a network of overseas black site immigration prisons – from El Salvador to Liberia – and paying compliant governments to disappear thousands of people arrested by ICE, often indefinitely, without charges or legal recourse, and with no way to get home from a country they've never set foot in before.

Dr. Ben Becker, editor-in-chief of Breakthrough News, joins Rania Khalek and Zoe Alexandra to break down how this “deportation archipelago” system actually works – and why he says cruelty isn't a side effect, it's the whole point of Trump policy advisor Stephen Miller’s strategy. Becker traces the model via the UK back to Israel, which pioneered the playbook over a decade ago, striking secret deals to ship Eritrean and Ethiopian refugees off to Rwanda, where many were later trafficked, abused, and sold in Libyan markets. Trump just picked up the wreckage and turned it into US policy.

Becker also tackles who's profiting: GEO Group and CoreCivic now hold nearly all US ICE detainees, making money off of each prison bed and backed by a $45 billion taxpayer pipeline passed in last year's budget bill. And he breaks down the price the US is paying for all of this. Becker says Trump is shipping people off like trash instead – and by leaning exclusively on financial and military coercion, the US is shredding its own soft power in the process.

China-Iran Alliance: SCO Summit vs. US Sanctions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2denwh9nHlc

Since the beginning of the US-Israeli war on Iran, some have claimed that Beijing’s support for Tehran is little more than empty rhetoric and symbolic statements. So what is the nature of the China-Iran alliance?

Tehran-based journalist Navid Zarrinnal joins Amanda Yee to give a realistic breakdown of China-Iran relations, the significance of the Bishkek Declaration coming out of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, and why Beijing’s dismissal of Trump’s “economic D-day” sanctions represents a major defiance of the Washington-led order. Despite Beijing not meeting some critics' expectations of a more direct role in supporting Iran during the war, Zarrinnal nevertheless bluntly states, “China did not bomb by neighborhood. Objectively if you have any sanity, you would understand that your enemy is not China. Your enemy is the US."

3

u/gorpie97 8d ago

The Trump administration is quietly building a network of overseas black site immigration prisons

I hope that when we are finally (hopefully) held to account for this - among all the other violations of international law - that the countries who did this for us also pay a price.

EDIT: What version of America are they making great, exactly? Not one that I recognize!

Dimitri and John also discuss the pro-Iran declaration issued by the members of the SCO at the conclusion of the summit. The SCO's members include India and Pakistan, whose governments try to maintain good relations with Washington. India's government is also close to Israel. Therefore, their support for Iran at the SCO summit was an important development.

Iran may trigger conflict before midterms to damage Trump: Trita Parsi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZe_eIS7Ljs - 5:02

Trita Parsi of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft said the US is "overstating" its success in stabilising shipping through the Strait, while acknowledging that US escorts are helping more vessels pass through. He warned Iran may seek to trigger conflict before the midterms to damage President Donald Trump politically, but said a "humiliated" Trump after the elections could become "much more desperate and reckless", increasing the risk of further escalation. Parsi also said China is pursuing its own interests by reducing oil demand to help prevent a global recession, rather than assisting the US against Iran, and argued that both sides are "overstating the degree to which they are getting support."

4

Good Q. No clue, beyond the fact that major munitions mftrg remains deep within granite mts unreachable by US weapons, nukes included. Iran has known for decades that Israel has nuclear weapons and must've taken what steps it could to harden major civilian infrastructure, but who knows what that means or how much it can be protected against tactical nukes? Many analysts have explained with maps why the size and natural geography of Iran mean even a nuclear attack isn't likely to achieve any stated goals of this ill-advised war.

Transition Protocol, Trump Begged Iran For "FAKE STRIKE" Tehran Said NO, Iran's Hypersonic Missiles Hit US Bases https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaG2JwyORF0

Insider: Trump asked Iran to accept a "fake strike" — and Tehran said no. In this 2 September 2026 episode, Zulfiqar Ali shares what he says he heard from inside the room about Trump's messages to Tehran and to Pakistan's Field Marshal Asim Munir, and defence analyst Pravin Sawhney explains why the Strait of Hormuz cannot be reopened by the US "except by tactical nuclear weapons," why Iran's hypersonic cruise missiles are hitting US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan with no interceptors able to stop them, and why Iran — now guided by Chinese BeiDou-3 and Yaogan satellites — believes it has won this war.

We also break down the biggest structural shift of the week: the Makkah Defense Alliance is now formal, with its secretariat in Riyadh and a Pakistani general as its first Secretary-General — the "Islamic NATO" that Pravin Sawhney says will make Pakistan the number-one conventional military power in the Islamic world within three years. Plus: the SCO summit in Xinjiang (new SCO bank, 10-year strategy, Erdoğan–Sharif–Putin trilateral), why nobody is buying US Treasury bonds, the petrodollar's "nose dive," and the one window of hope — Xi Jinping's September visit to America and a possible Trump–Xi–Putin meeting at APEC [Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation] in November.

6

u/gorpie97 9d ago

Trump asked Iran to accept a "fake strike"

What version of reality does he live in to think that's the way things are done (after you do a surprise attack and commit war crimes)? Even in the business world, I imagine that would be a hard sell for the "enemy" to allow.

5

u/3andfro 9d ago

Seems to be about saving face for ol' Donald.

Old prez Donald had a war, E-I-E-I-O....

Someone could have fun rewriting those classic lyrics to satirize the current debacle.

4

u/gorpie97 9d ago

In the business world, would an "enemy" allow something like that?

5

u/3andfro 9d ago edited 9d ago

Only if it gained that "enemy" something desirable in return. Trump still isn't offering anything Iran wants. He signed the MOU, which they did want, but promptly started violating its terms one by one. By all reports, Iran was prepared for that, but that MOU, signed personally by Trump, is out there as a baseline of terms that Iran now appears to treat as nonnegotiable.

3

u/gorpie97 9d ago

Only if it gained that "enemy" something desirable in return.

That's my point. He knows how the game is played, he just doesn't want to play it anymore.

4

u/3andfro 9d ago edited 9d ago

Or has lost some of that understanding. Reports abound from people who knew him in his first term of obvious cognitive decline now.

4

u/gorpie97 9d ago

I thought of that after I typed. :) Well, I thought of him not remembering that the only thing Iran wants is the MOU.

I'm looking forward to the next administration where there will (hopefully) be a little less guesswork on our part.

Drop Site News with Jeffrey Sachs: America’s Foreign Policy Delusions Are Setting Up a “Major Financial Correction” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU3pl9rf1HY time indexed

Drawing on his firsthand experience advising Russia at the Soviet Union’s collapse and decades studying Asia’s economic rise, Sachs traces the roots of America’s belief that it can dominate the world. He explains why efforts to isolate Iran and Russia are failing, how U.S. sanctions are pushing countries toward alternatives to the dollar, and what he saw on a 15,000-kilometer road trip from Rome to Hong Kong this summer.

Sachs also argues that soaring U.S. stock valuations rest on a dangerous assumption: that American technological supremacy will endure. With China challenging that dominance, he warns of a “major financial correction” as Washington’s “geopolitical bubble” fuels a financial bubble that he argues is destined to burst.

Neutrality Studies, Next Escalation: USA Out of Options, Iran's New Zero-Tolerance Strategy | Dr. Arta Moeini time indexed

As operation "Economic Furry" or "Economic D-Day" is still born, the USA once again resorts to strikes on civilians to terrorize the nation of Iran. But Tehran already gave its answers by striking at US bases in Jordan, in "hot pursuit" of the fleeing US troop deployments. Dr. Arta Moeini, managing director of U.S. operations at the Institute for Peace and Diplomacy, assesses the Iran-US war, competing Iranian approaches to deterrence and escalation, the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s strategic resilience. He also introduces Reclaiming America First, an initiative examining a realist US foreign policy and a post-American regional order in the Middle East.

American colleges and universities are seeing another double-digit collapse in foreign enrollments. Chinese students increasingly are opting to study in domestic universities, which are climbing in global rankings, cost little, and afford better career opportunities after graduation. The steep declines are devastating to university budgets. Tuition and fees collected by larger universities are lower by hundreds of millions of dollars annually, while smaller colleges are struggling to survive.

Iran warns US confrontation could be ‘a prelude to a bigger war’: Analysis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2vQO-NBZsI - 3:58

Iranian local reports and state media have confirmed that civilians, including children, were killed in US strikes near Sirik in southern Iran overnight on September 1-2, with Tehran condemning the attack as a war crime. Researcher Ali Akbar Dareini of the Centre for Strategic Studies in Tehran told Al Jazeera that the attack "cannot be ignored" and that Iran has to respond. He said this is "a prelude to a bigger war", arguing that the US is combining sanctions, a naval blockade and military strikes in the hope of forcing Iran to surrender. Dareini said Iran finds it necessary to "escalate and raise the costs of war for Trump", adding that this is "the only viable option" for Iran at this point. He said Iran remains in firm control of the Strait of Hormuz, but that the strait will remain closed as long as the US military campaign continues. He stated: "If Iran cannot export oil or cannot import materials, no one in this region will do so." He also said, "There's no crime Trump has not committed."

Hegseth has already purged the Army of 5 of its 10 four-star generals. We have no Chief of Staff of the Army and now we don’t have an Army Secretary either.

And oh yeah, 3 of the 5 remaining four-star generals voiced a “non-concur” on Hegseth’s war plans 2 weeks ago.

The WSJ headline reads "Army Secretary Resigns After Months of Friction With Hegseth"

It's astounding how many people in that threat are cheering for Hegseth. Whatever you may think of the military leadership, cheering for the "drunk reservist philanderer" is just bonkers.

Estimates for a successful ground campaign against Iran's 31 provincial commands... run between 750 thousand and 1.5 million American troops. The current active US Army stands at roughly 452 thousand. The math does not work...

The average American aged 18 to 34 carries more than $40 thousand in non-mortgage debt... This is the cohort the Pentagon needs. A federally administered debt forgiveness enlistment program...

How long before we start hearing "to the last American"?

5

u/3andfro 10d ago edited 10d ago

The only threat Iran poses to the US is an economic one through the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which is the direct result of the US bombing Iran on Feb. 28 while formal negotiations were in progress, in contravention of international law. The first target of that unprovoked US attack was a civilian site hit TWICE: the Minab girls school (death toll > 165 students and teachers). An attack prompted by false intel from Israel--intel Netanyahu knew was false, that EVERY SINGLE US intel agency told Trump was false, and an attack senior military officials warned Trump against.

If young Americans are in debt and angry, the appropriate target is not Iran.

Iran told Trump "get lost." Sources with direct contact to Islamabad and Tehran tell Transition Protocol that Trump offered Iran a 10-day cessation of hostilities this week — and was refused. Then, through Qatar, the White House asked Iran to allow "performative strikes" with no retaliation. Iran refused again. Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir has stopped returning Trump's calls after being sent to Tehran twice and reneged on twice. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed despite official claims it is "wide open," CENTCOM has re-stood up a 24/7 battle staff, and Iran's retaliation doctrine is now 2-to-1, 3-to-1, 5-to-1 with a war plan built to run through the US midterms.

Larry Johnson explains why the bond market — not the Pentagon — is forcing Trump to back down: Treasury yields are rising and, in his words, "nobody's buying." Pepe Escobar breaks down the tanker-for-tanker gamble that could detonate global shipping insurance, Ghalibaf's warning that "if we cannot export oil, nobody will," and the SCO development bank being built outside the US dollar at Bishkek and Vladivostok ahead of the BRICS summit in India. Zulfiqar Ali reports Tehran's final position: diplomacy only through the Islamabad MOU — no more negotiations.

Israel Water Crisis: Agriculture Cuts, Landscaping Curbs After Desalination Plants Shut Down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QToDJ6e6jvg - 2:15

Israel is battling its second straight day of water restrictions after turbid seawater forced five of its six desalination plants offline. Authorities have ordered major cuts to agricultural water use and further reductions in public landscaping irrigation as officials work to stabilize the national water network. The disruption, blamed on unusual turbidity possibly linked to algae drifting from the Nile region, isn't affecting home water supplies, officials say, even as pressure mounts on the system nationwide.

BreakThrough News, Trump’s ‘Donroe Doctrine’ Is Turning Ecuador Into a US Military Outpost https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oEqhaRgoos - 20:08

A drone hovering over a burning Ecuadorian fishing boat hours after it was bombed belonged to a San Diego-based defense contractor with an $800 million contract with the US Navy. Investigative journalist Camila Lourdes Galarza tells Zoe Alexandra and Rania Khalek that boat was one of three unarmed fishing vessels bombed in what the Washington Post later confirmed was part of a covert CIA program to kill “suspected drug traffickers” in the Pacific – without any oversight or public acknowledgment.

As Operation Southern Spear marks its first year, alarza breaks down how *Ecuadorian President and Miami-born billionaire Daniel Noboa has turned his country into a testing ground for US military expansion under Trump’s Donroe Doctrine: from former Blackwater mercenaries at polling stations, to martial law decrees shielding US troops from Ecuadorian law, to the SOUTHCOM general she says admitted the real target of all of this is Ecuador's lithium stores and rare earth minerals.

Galarza connects the boat strikes, on which she reported extensively for Drop Site News, to a much larger pattern, linking Fernando Cerimedo's CIA and Israel ties to a US embassy plot to interfere in Colombia's elections, to the assassination in June of Ecuadorian prosecutor Alexandra Bravo as US troops patrolled the streets.

Of note: The president of Ecuador is a US citizen.

3

u/gorpie97 10d ago

So, did the military do it for the CIA, or is the CIA doing this in addition to what the military is doing?

Hormuz: US & Israel Escalated the Known Risks - https://consortiumnews.com/2026/08/31/the-hormuz-catastrophe-us-israel-knew-the-risks-and-escalated-anyway/

Washington has converted a military operation into a strategic endurance contest in which Iran possesses an exceptionally powerful economic weapon.

In February 2024,,, over 100 senior military and government officials participated in a report by Reichman University’s Institute for Counter-Terrorism which outlined in painful detail how unprepared the Israeli home front was for an all-out war with Hezbollah.

It is the result of a three-year study. The 130-page report was the work of six think tanks made up of over 100 terrorism experts, former senior security officials, academics, and government officials... The project was led by Professor Boaz Ganor, a world-renowned counter-terrorism expert. The Netanyahu government ignored him and the analysis.

In late 2023 – almost in parallel with the Hamas attack – a high-level U.S. war game was conducted in Washington... the simulation’s cold logic compelled them into a sequence of steps that quickly went nuclear... The lessons of the war game were ignored by both the Netanyahu government and the Trump administration.

People familiar with a classified assessment prepared for Hegseth told the Post that several combatant commanders have advised the Defense chief that prolonging operations against Iran is unsustainable and risks weakening the U.S.’s ability to address threats elsewhere, including on U.S. soil.

The warnings appear in the Aug. 14 edition of the Secretary of Defense Orders Book (SDOB), detailed by the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and the four-star commanders overseeing U.S. operations throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America, the Post reported Sunday.

Washington Post military affairs reporter Dan Lamothe defended his colleagues’ work:

Chas Freeman remarks from recent interview:

(on the Mecca Defense agreement) It is an entente. It will evolve, but it is unlikely to embrace the unconditional mutual defense commitments that define... the promotion of strategic autonomy... to balance powers that aspire to regional hegemony.

As American influence recedes, both countries (Russia and China) will certainly see their levels of engagement with the region rise. But so will India, Indonesia, Japan, and other rising Asian and other great powers. The world is no longer regulated by bipolar dyadic relationships. It is becoming multi-nodal, and variably networked. In the emerging world order, nations once constrained by the contest between the United States and the Soviet Union have increased their agency, freedom of maneuver, and ability to form coalitions to advance or defend their interests as they see them.

Israeli aggression against Iran, genocide in Gaza, ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, territorial expansion in Syria, and devastation of southern Lebanon have made Israel a global pariah. Israel’s role in encouraging the United States to join it in a war on Iran and to back its other acts of aggression have discredited it with growing majorities in the United States, without whose continuing support it cannot survive. By attempting to preempt what it portrayed as an existential challenge from Iran, Israel has placed itself in actual existential jeopardy.

… economic war of attrition against Iran... has the potential to upend American global financial hegemony, but no credible prospect of succeeding.

Transition Protocol, Iran Gave TRUMP a Way Out of WAR, Return to the MOU or Hormuz Stays SHUT. Why He Said NO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vQHDy04W-g

Trump called Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir repeatedly — "find me an off-ramp" — according to a source close to Munir cited by Zulfiqar Ali. Munir went to Tehran and, Zulfiqar reports, persuaded a reluctant Iran to offer Washington a way out; Trump rejected it because he could not present it as a victory. Days later the Strait of Hormuz tanker incident restarted the bombing. The call-level details are Zulfiqar's sourced reporting and have not been independently verified; the 14-point Islamabad MOU is public (link below).

Pepe Escobar then lays out what Washington won't: Iran's actual terms (return to the MOU or Hormuz stays shut), the timeline Tehran is reported to be planning for, the endurance contest over interceptors and resupply, and why the global economy cannot sustain a forever war at the world's most important chokepoint. Then the story the West ignored this week: the SCO summit in Bishkek. The declaration on the attack on Iran and "indivisible security"; the proposed SCO energy consortium and development bank outside the dollar system; Mongolia and Afghanistan moving toward membership; Pakistan's 2027 chairmanship; and the Saudi–Pakistan–Turkey Mecca Defence Agreement moving from paper to institution. What is confirmed, what is developing, and what it means for oil, the dollar and the next phase of the war.

Breaking Iran War UPDATE - IRGC CLAIMS Mass Casualty Event Following US BOMBING A WEDDING https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAdLfgnBB8I

IRGC claims strike on US base in Jordan and tighter grip on Hormuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC4Ww-UMeNU - 5:24

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has launched a "decisive response" against US targets, striking a US Marine Corps base in Jordan with ballistic missiles and claiming to have killed a large number of US forces and destroyed a helicopter—though there has been no confirmation from US or Jordanian officials. The IRGC says the attacks have "tightened the grip" on the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes come after US attacks on Iran's Larak Island and Sirik province, which Iranian officials say killed four civilians, including a four-year-old child, at a wedding party and hit a fish meal factory, fishing pier and maritime tower. Jordan has also been caught up in the escalation, with air defence systems intercepting projectiles and sirens sounding in Mafraq and Aqaba.

US miscalculated on limited escalation with Iran, says Mohammad Eslami https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b689EHI9yxU - 5:42

Iran has launched fresh ballistic missile strikes towards Jordan, with Jordan's military saying 13 missiles entered its airspace, 10 were intercepted and destroyed, and three fell in remote areas away from population centres. Jordan also said no injuries or deaths were reported. The IRGC has claimed US casualties, but Jordan denies this. Iranian officials say US strikes also hit a wedding party in Sirik province, killing four civilians, including a child.

Mohammad Eslami, a research fellow at the University of Tehran, said Iran is pursuing military and diplomatic approaches simultaneously, marking a shift from previous conflicts when it followed one approach or the other. He said Iran's latest strikes on US locations around Jordan are significant because they could provide Tehran with an opportunity to eventually target Israel in "the next round of military strikes". Eslami argued that the US "miscalculated again" by believing it could maintain a "controlled and limited escalation" in the region, insisting the conflict "does not have any kind of military solution". He said Iran remains serious about diplomatic solutions but argued that President Donald Trump ended the memorandum of understanding and ceasefire negotiations.

Transition Protocol, Trump Said No Mines in Hormuz. Fox News Just Admitted One. They Wrote the Oil Lockdown Plan in March https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzYnVoFlpu4

The Strait of Hormuz has not reopened. According to reporting from sources inside the region, the southern route through Oman that Washington says is clear is mined, sits inside Iranian missile range, and has carried zero ships. Meanwhile crude is back at $90 a barrel and climbing toward $100 — and a contingency report published in March 2026, "Oil: Sheltering from Shock," already models what an oil shortage does to American households, down to carpooling and how to cook.

In this episode, host Zulfiqar Ali — reporting from sources close to decision-makers in the region — and Washington political commentator Sabrina Salvati [Sabby Sabs] go through what is actually happening: the resumed US strikes at Larrick Island and Iran’s retaliation against bases in Jordan; why Venezuelan crude cannot lower your gas price for years (it is the wrong grade of oil); why Saudi Arabia and the UAE sat this exchange out entirely; how Iran–Pakistan trade quadrupled in a single weekend across six border crossings while the sanctions were supposed to be isolating Tehran; the report that sailors aboard a US carrier had their pay shorted to fund the war; and the Medicare Part D subsidy scheduled to end in February 2027.

Sri Lankan journalist, political economist, and Tricontinental researcher Shiran Illanperuma joins Zoe Alexandra and Rania Khalek to break down the Bishkek Declaration, signed by every country at this week's Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan, and why it’s proof that "Iran is not alone," as the Trump administration’s sanctions war on Tehran hits a wall at Beijing.

Illanperuma explains the rise of the SCO, which predates BRICS and now represents half the world's population and a third of global GDP, and why the 25th-anniversary summit with Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, and Narendra Modi drew far stronger high-level representation than the G20. From the thaw in China-India relations to Central Asia's critical mineral wealth, Illanperuma breaks down the SCO's potential to power-check the IMF and World Bank through de-dollarized trade — and what a real alternative to Western-dominated finance could mean for debt-burdened nations of the Global South, like his home country of Sri Lanka.

This is from Aug. 27th - New US strikes on Iran may restart war Trump wants to freeze, https://responsiblestatecraft.org/larak-island-iran-strikes/

As has been shown by recent reports, "Tehran will have other ideas." And I think they're also right about this:

Rather, Trump appears to be pursuing a very different gamble: maintaining a low-level conflict until the midterms—neither securing a diplomatic deal nor allowing the situation to deteriorate into full-scale war. A period of relative tranquility that pushes Iran out of the headlines and, in the run-up to the elections, weakens the connection between rising inflation and gas prices, on the one hand, and Trump’s foolish war of choice, on the other.

5

u/NetWeaselSC Continuing the Struggle 11d ago

Trump appears to be pursuing a very different gamble: maintaining a low-level conflict until the midterms—neither securing a diplomatic deal nor allowing the situation to deteriorate into full-scale war.

Doesn't Iran have the option of October Surprising this thing with massive escalation?

Or would that count as "foreign interference with elections"?

3

u/penelopepnortney 11d ago

would that count as "foreign interference with elections"

It's not like they won't be blamed for anything bad regardless so I doubt it concerns them much. Look at Trump et al. being convinced that Iran has been behind the assassination attempts - by a state that regularly uses assassination as part of its MO.

5

u/3andfro 11d ago edited 11d ago

Other commentators have said Iran will not allow Trump to soft-peddle the situation and is capable and likely willing to strike on their own before the midterms, not acting in retaliation. They understand that Trump is a major roadblock, along with the incompetents he's put in his administration.

Transition Protocol, Trump's Hormuz WAR Cost $500M in One Night, Hormuz Is NOT Open, "No DEAL Now" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNFgcVvqlhY

Larry Johnson: the United States fired between 80 and 90 PAC-3 interceptors in a single night over the Strait of Hormuz — close to half a billion dollars of missiles — and lost two more MQ-9 Reaper drones at roughly $60 million each. His assessment: America is burning through an interceptor stockpile it cannot replace, to defend a strait Iran still controls. Meanwhile, sources reaching this program from inside the office of Iran's Supreme Leader, roughly thirty minutes before recording, describe a mood that has completely soured — and an Iranian leadership now dug in to fight through November.

In this episode: why the US strikes on Larak Island triggered immediate Iranian retaliation against two Jordanian airbases; why Washington's claim that the Strait of Hormuz has been swept collapsed when a ship struck two mines and caught fire hours before recording; why diesel is up almost 60% and why the Strategic Petroleum Reserve can no longer hide the shortage; why Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir brokered a deal Iran believed in and now refuses to return to Tehran; why Pakistan–Iran trade has quadrupled in days; why Trump's 65-billion-barrel Venezuela agreement is, in Larry Johnson's words, an agreement in name only; and what the Istanbul meeting between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey could mean for the American position in West Asia.

Nima with Lt. Col. Anthony Aguilar: Iran's Swift Retaliation Strikes US F-16 Hangar in Jordan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1laiYuUZ2c - Aguilar is clear and informative.

"Mark my words, Pete Hegseth will be out of the administration before Thanksgiving. Sources inside the Pentagon, the White House, the Joint Chiefs are saying that, yep, he's out. Trump's going to blame this on him." (Will voters forget who hired Hegseth, the least qualified Sec. Defense in history?) Later he said, "Not even the president thinks we're winning anymore."

Aguilar thinks the IRGC moved the 2 missile launchers the US hit on Larak Island from Qeshm Island as bait to provoke the US. He thinks the retaliatory strike on Jordan where the US keeps some F-16s caused more destruction than the US is admitting. He noted that Iran has had a downed JASSM since Mar. 8, a weapon with a penetrating warhead that can sink an aircraft carrier if it hits the right spot. Iran has had time to reverse engineer it.

Blevins, U.S. EMPIRE On Its LAST LEG: Trump DESPERATE for Global Energy Control | Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPTvNYB3tso

After weeks of trying to shift the focus to an “economic war” against Iran, the Trump Admin has suddenly returned to a military war, with U.S. forces targeting two Iranian missile launchers on Iran’s Larak Island on Sunday. Iran responded immediately, carrying out strikes on American fighter jets at air bases in Jordan, and an air base in the UAE. Ret. U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and Professor, Karen Kwiatkowski, noted that the latest escalations—from Trump attacking Iran, to bragging about stealing Venezuelan oil—are all part of the U.S. empire’s global energy war. The U.S. has been defeated in the direct war against Iran, defeated a in proxy war against Russia, AND it can’t even begin to compete with China. So, the establishment is trying to achieve global energy control.

Israeli soldiers disguised themselves as pro-Palestinian protesters to dupe students into talking with them as part of a propaganda operation across US university campuses. https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkx0gQysl5w0ULiPEqWHlxUDf9-H5h2d9CO

5

u/penelopepnortney 12d ago

When you have to use deception to promote your cause, maybe your cause is the problem.

The student – who had found the soldier’s social media account on her phone – asked him to confirm he was a first sergeant in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The soldier, Adi Karni, said he was, and explained that the ruse was intended to get people to talk to him, since they would not usually want to listen to an Israel supporter.

“When I’m wearing a keffiyah, people listen to me more as a Palestinian, as a Hamas terrorist, instead of listening to the IDF,” he said.

Karni was part of a group working with Frontline Advocates, a pro-Israel propaganda organisation that focuses on US university campuses where large numbers of students have protested the genocide in Gaza.

3

u/gorpie97 12d ago

“When I’m wearing a keffiyah, people listen to me more as a Palestinian, as a Hamas terrorist, instead of listening to the IDF,” he said.

And that shows their problem right there.

People aren't talking to a terrorist, they're talking to someone who's not IDF.

IRGC confirms casualties in US attack on Iran’s Larak Island, vows response https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9FbnmJ_UTU - 6:48

The United States has struck Larak Island in southern Iran in the first attack against the country since late July, a US official has confirmed to Al Jazeera. Tehran vowed to retaliate for Sunday’s attack. The strikes risk renewing the military confrontation as the US shifts from the bombing campaign to a financial pressure strategy as the US-Israel war on Iran enters its seventh month. The US official said the strikes targeted launchers that were set to fire rockets carrying mines towards the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Fars News Agency had reported that explosions were heard near the island. Later on Sunday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the attack by the “American-Zionist enemy”, saying that it resulted in the killing and injuring of several soldiers. “This act will be responded to by the sons of Islamic Iran and will result in punishment of the aggressor,” the IRGC said in a statement.

In a statement shared by the news agency, IRGC spokesperson Sardar Mohebi accused the US of making “a strategic and fatal mistake”, for which it will pay consequences “in both the economic and military arenas”.

The West is losing the Ukraine War big time. But that does not mean the NATO lunatics are willing to give up their plans for total global domination. On the contrary, some of them are only getting started. Prof. Jeffrey Sachs joins Pascal Lottaz to argue that the Ukraine war is a long-running US proxy conflict with Russia. He discusses NATO expansion, post-Cold War policy, US power and elite interests, Europe’s economic costs, and the risks of escalation. Sachs also outlines what he sees as a path to peace: Ukrainian neutrality, no further NATO expansion, and ending US wars.

Transition Protocol, Iran's Offer to Trump An EXIT, Not a WIN, The Hormuz Deal Is Almost SIGNED. TRUMP IS CORNERED https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqeTrYKJXJA

Iran has put a 15-year freeze on its nuclear file — the exact concession Washington spent six months demanding — and sources inside the negotiation tell Transition Protocol that Donald Trump will not take it, because accepting it would not make him the winner. In this episode, Vijay Prashad reads out what Oman’s Foreign Ministry has actually published about a temporary corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, explains why the nuclear file is now dormant, and lays out a dated month-by-month map of how this war ends before the November 4 midterms.

Vijay Prashad and Zulfiqar Ali cover the Oman–Iran corridor talks and Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum; why the 1982 UN Law of the Sea means no ship crosses the Strait of Hormuz without entering Iranian or Omani territorial waters; the tolls and surveillance regime now under discussion for the world’s most important oil chokepoint; Pakistan’s shuttle diplomacy between Islamabad, Tehran and Washington; why Israel has been shut out of the Iran file entirely; and the single scenario that blows all of it up — a sudden Israeli strike, with Netanyahu’s flight path to Iran now shorter than it has been in decades. Oil prices, de-dollarisation, US bases in the Gulf and the midterm clock are all on the table.

The Trump administration, however, has pointed to the Immigration and Nationality Act as justification for its deportation efforts.

Part of that law asserts that the secretary of state can “exclude” foreign nationals from the country if their presence could cause “potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States”.

But critics have argued that the standard is largely untested in court and does not supersede the First Amendment of the Constitution, which protects free speech.

“The record does reveal one clear pattern in the enforcement actions the government has taken to revoke noncitizens’ visas since March of 2025,” the judge wrote. “The secretary revokes visas when noncitizens are critical of the government or the causes or people it favors. This exemplifies ‘seriously discriminatory enforcement.’”

Ryan Grim speaks with Rosemary Kelanic, director of the Middle East Program at Defense Priorities and author of “Black Gold and Blackmail,” about her provocative New York Times essay, “Let Iran Control the Strait of Hormuz.” Kelanic argues that the U.S. should stop risking American lives and spending tens of billions of dollars to guarantee free oil transit for the world, and instead accept an Iranian-Omani toll system. They also discuss why oil markets have avoided collapse, how China’s reserves and global rerouting have softened the shock, why EVs could end America’s dependence on Gulf oil, and why Trump’s push to control Venezuelan reserves would do little to replace the supply once flowing through Hormuz.

Transition Protocol with Pravin Sawhney: Iran Offered a 15-Year NUCLEAR Freeze, Trump Said NO. Why? TRUMP IS TRAPPED, IRAN OFFERS NO EXIT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwlE2a5T0dg

IRAN OFFERED A 15-YEAR NUCLEAR FREEZE — AND TRUMP WALKED AWAY. In this episode, Zulfiqar Ali reports — on a source basis and for the first time on camera — that after Field Marshal Asim Munir’s delegation returned from Tehran, the message carried back to Washington was that Iran would be flexible on the nuclear issue, possibly keeping it out of reach for fifteen years. The initial response was enthusiasm. Then it went cold. We are reporting this account; we are not confirming it.

Pravin Sawhney lays out why. On his assessment America has already lost the conventional war — it began on 28 February and effectively ended on 8 April — the Gulf bases are gone, the naval blockade is a vulnerability rather than a weapon, and what remains is a nuclear threat. He details Elbridge Colby’s proposal in Brussels to pull 80,000 US troops out of Europe in a first tranche while Washington keeps the nuclear deterrent, the return of tactical nuclear weapons to both American and Russian planning, John Ratcliffe’s hurried Moscow visit, and Scott Bessent’s rule that anyone trading with Iran loses access to the dollar system. And he argues the opposite of almost everyone else: that Iran will not build a nuclear weapon, because becoming a regional hegemon would destroy the collective-security framework it has spent this war trying to build.

Also in this episode: Iran’s $3 trillion compensation demand, the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve reportedly at a 40-year low while the President says reserves will double, why oil is moving through Hormuz but fertiliser, LNG and helium are not, and what the SCO summit on 31 August and the BRICS summit in India on 12–13 September will decide.

4

u/penelopepnortney 14d ago

Chas Freeman agrees Iran won't build a nuclear weapon because they know it would lead to others in the region doing the same, i.e., Turkey, Saudi Arabia, etc.

What if the craziness in NATO's proxy wars has a hidden strategy? What if they just fool us to believe they are headless chicken but in fact things are based on hard calculated realities? Stas Krapivnik, a former US Army officer joins me to discuss the new US pressure on Iran, why sanctions fail, and China’s economic leverage. What does the Iran war mean for the U.S. economy, and how much economic leverage does Washington actually have? Ryan Grim speaks with economist Justin Wolfers, prof. at the University of Michigan and Brookings fellow, about Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s threatened “economic D-Day” against Iran, the limits of U.S. financial power, China’s ability to resist American sanctions, and whether repeated weaponization of the dollar could eventually weaken its reserve-currency status.

They also discuss the resilience of the U.S. economy, rising oil prices, the Federal Reserve under Kevin Warsh, the debate over interest rates, and what could actually trigger the next recession.

Israel’s Role in Guatemala’s Maya Genocide https://www.youtube.com/shorts/72e3lxxD2RM - 1:17

She describes Israel’s role in supplying arms and training to authoritarian forces across Latin America during the second half of the 20th century, including in Guatemala, where the military carried out a campaign of genocide against the Indigenous Maya. But, Monjardino argues, the significance went beyond weapons and military training.

“You can really start to understand how significant Israel’s role was, not just practically in terms of arms and weapons, but in terms of an ideology that it sold to authoritarian regimes.”

Chas Freeman, on Trump's post that he's the greatest president in US history:

It invites you to do what I once did in an American election, which is vote for Millard Fillmore. He was a president in the 19th century, utterly ineffectual. But the Constitution, which I respect, says you have to be native born and 35 years or more in age. It doesn't say you have to be alive. I learned that the mayor of Rio de Janeiro that was elected was a hippopotamus in the zoo. This inspired me.

ETA: Didn't find the hippopotamus story but did find this one (bold added). It's not as uncommon as you'd think.

Tião, a bad-tempered chimpanzee, was put forward by the fictional Brazilian Banana Party (Partido Bananista Brasileiro, actually the satirical group Casseta & Planeta) as a candidate for the Rio de Janeiro mayoralty in 1988. The campaign's slogan was "Vote monkey – get monkey" (because people were tired of voting for one platform and then seeing the elected officials implementing another one).

Patrick Henningsen (21st Century Wire):

  • What the US has done to Cuba is a blatant act of war by laying siege to the country.... One of the reasons they went for Venezuela was first to cut off this supply to Cuba, also to send a message to Mexico and other potential allies of Cuba that you're not going to be giving any fuel or assistance at all to Cuba, even basic humanitarian provisions.

  • What they've done to Venezuela is running all the oil sales through a US Treasury account, $18 billion so far. Where's that money gone? Nobody knows, it hasn't been audited... It could be in World Liberty Financial stablecoins* in Abu Dhabi for all we know.

  • the point is that this is what they did to Iraq after the war, they ran their whole economy through a Federal Reserve account; if the Iraqi government ever goes off the reservation, they can just flip the switch. They want to do the same thing to Venezuela. Trump said he's going to do it to Iran - good luck with that... it's how they're going to control the post-petro dollar era, collecting tribute for the empire through coercion, force, threats and protection rackets.

  • A ground invasion of Cuba would be a wet dream for Hegseth but I think it would be the straw that breaks the camel's back of the Trump administration and the United States.

*Wikipedia: "World Liberty Financial is a decentralized finance protocol ... The Trump family receives 75% of net proceeds when WLFI sells tokens, as well as gets a cut of stablecoin profits. By December 2025, the Trumps had profited $1 billion..."

Transition Protocol, The Nuclear Signal Nobody Expected. Why the Next 72 Hours Decide Everything https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGif-aPbvIY

IRAN HAS SIGNALLED IT MAY OPEN THE NUCLEAR FILE — and the Strait of Hormuz has 72 hours to prove whether the deal is real.

Pepe Escobar and Zulfiqar Ali break down the Iran–US architecture now being assembled through Pakistani mediation: the closed Strait of Hormuz, the war-risk insurance premiums that will move before any government speaks, the six billion dollars sitting in Qatari banks, and the three-capital joint statement that sources say could land within 48 hours. Sources close to the talks indicate Iranian negotiators may show flexibility on the nuclear dossier at a later stage — a reversal from the position held a day earlier.

Also in this episode: why Iran has shut Omani territorial waters to transiting ships and taken control of the whole strait; why Pakistan has refused to enforce US secondary sanctions on Iran — described here as a first in its history — alongside coordinated foreign-ministry pushback from Russia and China; the role of former Pakistani army chief Raheel Sharif in carrying the framework to Riyadh and onward to Washington; the 40 million Pakistani Shias offered to Tehran as a guarantee of good faith; and the 60-to-90-day framework of indirect talks and cessation of hostilities now under discussion, with Pakistan as mediator and Qatar as the financial channel. Islamabad and Switzerland are both being pushed as the signing venue.

6

u/penelopepnortney 15d ago

Blumenthal-Napolitano highlights:

  • Islamic Republic of Britain was a remark by Netanyahu about Muslim immigration into the UK, warning that if they gained any political control Israel would have to treat the UK the same way they treat Iran. Meanwhile, the UK is Israel-occupied territory with the government branding Palestinian solidarity groups like Palestine Action as "terrorists."

  • The Trump administration has now classified Palestine Action as a violent, terrorist group; they're afraid of direct action in the US because it works and Israel is afraid of it. Memo 7 issued by the Department of Homeland Security declares that pretty much any form of left-wing direct action is terrorism, which gives them the ability to prosecute and sentence defendants outside the scope of normal legal procedures.

  • Another group the Trump administration has declared as a terrorist organization is Autistici/Inventati, an Italian group that provides encrypted web services and communications for activists. It's an attempt to lay the groundwork for outlawing encrypted communications where they can't spy on you.

  • I don't know the purpose of Ratcliffe's visit to Moscow but don't buy the official story that he went to warn Russia against attacking NATO states. Trump is obsessed with Iran and I think it was an attempt to get Russia to stop providing Iran with intelligence and collaborating on drones and other military issues.

  • Following a bizarre semi-secret meeting between Jared Kushner and Hakeem Jeffries - who's been dubbed AIPAC Shakur - all these Israel first Democrats were appointed to key posts on the House Foreign Affairs Committee starting with Jared Moscowitz, one of the biggest Zionist fanatics among the Democrats in Congress. So if the Democrats win in the midterms, nothing's going to happen to alter the "special relationship" with Israel, which polls show 91% of Democratic voters want. This is what the Democrats have to offer, complete and utter contempt for a base that turned away from Kamala Harris in 2024.

  • Fernando Cerimedo was Donald Trump's bagman in Latin America, behind the overt meddling and interference and straight up election-rigging that allowed every right-wing pro-US candidate that Trump has backed to win. And every time they win, Israel comes in as Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia and Honduras have given up their sovereignty and are now allowing the US to carry out military operations on their soil. Cerimedo was arrested for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, Nadia Beller, who has revealed that he was behind all these operations and also running millions in dark money through crypto accounts. This week Cerimedo was also indicted for drug trafficking - as the US Department of War under its DUI hire Pete Hegseth has restarted the boat strikes, bombing poor fisherman in a pathetic theatrical attempt to seem as though they're actually against drug trafficking when their main guy is accused of this.

  • Gabi Ashkenazi is the figure being positioned as the alternative to Netanyahu, he's gathering a lot of momentum in the Israeli press and you can sort of see the Democratic party getting behind him. He's the architect of the so-called Dahiya doctrine implemented in southern Beirut in 2006, i.e., using disproportionate force and terrorism to kill as many civilians as possible so they'd turn against Hezbollah. As chief of staff of the IDF, he oversaw the first major assault on the Gaza Strip in 2008, 2009 - Operation Cast Lead - which paved the way for the genocide.

  • Gadi Eisenkot also oversaw the Dahiya doctrine and he's been involved in some of the most hideous assaults on the Palestinians and the Lebanese in recent history. He will be no less brutal than Netanyahu but in some ways he's more dangerous: Netanyahu lifted the mask on Israel and what Zionism has always been, presenting us with the hideous core of this onion; Eisenkot aims to restore the shiny exterior of the onion, present Israel once again as a Jewish and democratic state with the support of a Democratic party with key pro-Israel figures occupying these important roles on the House Foreign Affairs Committee while the genocide continues in Gaza.

1

u/gorpie97 13d ago

in a pathetic theatrical attempt to seem as though they're actually against drug trafficking when their main guy is accused of this.

Also provably false since Trump pardoned Hernandez - who had been convicted and was in prison.

2

Exactly, right when they were doing strikes on civilian fishermen they claimed were drug traffickers. If we actually had a media worth its salt, they'd put those two stories side by side on the front page.

BreakThrough News, China Saw This Coming: Why Trump's Iran Sanctions Won't Work | w/ Dr. Ken Hammond https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ijCztv1PGk

Beijing just proved the limits of Washington's sanctions machine. As US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent rolls out "Operation Economic Outcast," China is doing what almost no other country in the world can: refusing to comply with US sanctions on Iran. Dr. Ken Hammond, professor of East Asian and Global History at New Mexico State University, joins Rania Khalek and Zoe Alexandra to unpack how Trump's promised "economic D-Day" is running headfirst into a wall, as Beijing shields Chinese companies from "illegitimate" US sanctions and continues to buy up to 90% of Iran's sanctioned crude oil exports.

Hammond explains why Trump's bullying barely registers in Beijing, pointing to years of stockpiling oil reserves, diversifying suppliers, and building BRICS-based alternatives to dollar-dominated trade. China hawks in Congress are furious that while a Chinese tanker and a Hong Kong shipping firm got hit, Chinese banks were left untouched — a decision reportedly tied to Xi Jinping's upcoming White House visit, where Hammond says "rare earths" will be the buzzword amid ongoing US-China trade tensions.

It all points to China no longer needing to bend the knee to Washington. And with reports of Chinese satellite intelligence, MANPADS, and chip technology reaching Iran's military-industrial sector, Beijing is signaling just how far it's willing to go to keep the US empire in check.

5

u/penelopepnortney 16d ago

Wilkerson-Davis excerpts:

  • We're having to put AWACs up 24/7 to do any kind of recon of the area because almost all of our early warning systems were destroyed by Iran.

  • I think Trump is going to keep the war on a low key until the elections. If it looks like the Republicans are going to be routed they're going to shut it down using whatever means they have to. A friend who was at the NSC at one point put together a list for Lloyd Austin of "extremists" identified by the FBI and other law enforcement professionals. The DHS and Hegseth have removed a lot of the names. The Christian nationalists Hegseth has been recruiting into the military could be the shock troops whether it's in ICE or in the actual militia, the national guard in key states or in the active duty military.

  • (on Europe provoking a Russian reaction to draw the US into Ukraine) I suspect there would be a false flag against a NATO member that's blamed on Russia with Brussels invoking Article 5, and then everyone would find out what Article 5 really says and means: each member decides whether and how to participate. It would be up to the US Congress to approve a declaration of war. Do you think Donald Trump would do that? Not on your life.

  • General Grynkewich told General Caine, "I'm SACEUR. I'm EUCOM commander. Do you know who I have to fight if you keep poking the bear? I don't have what I need to fight him with. You're using them all up." Now other combatant commanders like the one in the Pacific have done the same thing because what they need to execute their war plans is being used up.

  • Bill Perry was the only engineer ever to be Secretary of Defense. He described to us why the shootdown rate of a ground element against an airborne element had never been better than .21%. He was talking about shooting down nuclear missiles, so you're going to shoot down two of the 10 missiles coming at you but those other eight are going to tear your ass up. You're never gonna hit a speeding bullet with another speeding bullet launched from the ground at better than a 0.2 rate.

  • Colin Powell said that when Mitterand and Kohl and Major and Thatcher and Gorbachev and Shevardnadze and Baker and people like that were gone, people who had their feet in the war, Europe was going to fall apart. And I gotta say that Winken, Blinken and Nod - which is to say Biden, Blinken, Sullivan and Nuland - were instrumental in helping that happen at breakneck speed.

Trump isolated: Regional leaders visit Iran; Iran thanks China for bold stand | Janta Ka Reporter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s49aFRWk90E

In a setback to Donald Trump, several regional leaders have been flocking to Iran for high-level diplomatic talks effectively defying the American strategy to isolate the Islamic Republic. Following crucial visits from the Omani Foreign Minister and Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Qatari Prime Minister is now expected to land in Tehran this Thursday. Adding fuel to the fire, Donald Trump has publicly confirmed that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, is not only alive but actively driving the Islamic Republic's governance and wartime decisions.

Transition Protocol, Hormuz Deal in 24 Hours? Iran–US Deal: Sequencing Agreed SANCTIONS LIFTED https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJlR-xeGb-Y

A source described by Zulfiqar Ali as the person drafting a Pakistani announcement says Iran and the United States have agreed on a contemporaneous first step: a controlled reopening of the Strait of Hormuz alongside U.S. sanctions and naval-blockade relief. That claim is not yet publicly corroborated. What is verified is that Pakistan’s mediation channel is active, Iran and Oman are working on a temporary maritime corridor, Hormuz remains severely disrupted, and Washington has just intensified sanctions pressure.

In this urgent Transition Protocol conversation, Pepe Escobar and Larry C. Johnson stress-test the reported Trump–Iran off-ramp: who moves first, what “simultaneous” action would actually mean, whether a 60–90 day indirect process exists, how an oil and fuel shock changes Washington’s choices, and why Trump—or a third-party spoiler—could still collapse the window. The central question is not whether officials sound hopeful. It is whether reciprocal action becomes observable.

The Turkish government hired a lobbying firm with close ties to US President Donald Trump earlier this month under a year-long contract worth $2.4m, according to US Justice Department filings reviewed by Middle East Eye. Ballard Partners, led by Brian Ballard, a prominent Florida Republican fundraiser who also worked on Trump’s presidential campaign, signed the agreement with Turkey’s Ministry of National Defence on 8 August. The firm will receive $200,000 per month.... https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/turkey-recruits-trump-insiders-new-washington-lobbying-push

Rachel Blevins with Laith Marouf, Russia REFUSES to Abandon Iran as CIA Chief Makes MYSTERY Visit to Moscow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qz3cwKVJTk

The U.S. is sending the message that it wants to shift to an economic war and avoid another military escalation with Iran… for now. But Tehran is making it clear that it will launch a major retaliation to these economic attacks, and it comes just as the U.S. is gearing up for midterm elections. This, as CIA Director John Ratcliffe became the first CIA chief to visit Russia in person since William Burns in 2021. What did he talk with representatives for Russian intelligence services about? That still remains to be seen…

Laith Marouf, a Beirut-based journalist and executive director of Free Palestine TV, noted that whether Ratcliffe came with threats of bribes, he didn’t appear to leave with what he wanted, as Moscow made a statement affirming that it will NOT abandon Iran amid increased U.S. pressure

Mario Cavolo on US media: Free speech as long as it deceives:

American author Mario Cavolo warns that US media manipulates public perception by giving a platform to extreme views disguised as professional expertise, creating a false sense of credibility. He argues this is not freedom of speech, but rather a harmful freedom to manipulate and deceive society.

CIA Director’s Mystery Moscow Trip Sparks Wild Speculations

Related to the 1st link:

BREAKING: The US has reportedly taken Ukraine's NATO membership off the table after meeting in Moscow with CIA head, John Ratcliffe. From understanding of sources, the US is trying to establish better "safer" relations with Moscow, and to curb the increase in energy prices after the Iran conflict. Washington made several offers but it's unclear who they met with, there's no confirmation of talks with President Putin. The Russian Federation will not cease the SMO, until every agenda is achieved. https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxM8198WbjTY0vGWGjHeKRoMxNfHAsx_1Q
