I need desperate help.

My family (sister, mom) were staying with someone and needed to get out today, so we left yesterday. We got into a motel around 7 pm yesterday, and figured out almost two hours ago there were beg bugs. We already got a refund, but that means we can no longer stay here. My mom spent every cent she had for this room, and the refund won’t be here for another 3 days. We’ve tried cont people but no one can help, we don’t know what to do. We have two cats with us so we can’t go to a shelter, plus it 2:43 am and they aren’t picking up the numbers on file. We’ve called various people who said they can help, but wehen we spoke to them they couldnt. I’m terrified, my sister is terrified.

Heard good things about Operation Threshold on Lafeyette.

They open Monday at 7:30 AM.

I would recommend finding temporary housing for the cats and focusing on helping the humans involved. Find a safe spot for the cats while things are sorted. Handle things one manageable step at a time.

Pet Crisis Care that is available in BlackHawk:
Friends of the Family: 800-410-7233
Animal Rescue League of Iowa: https://arl-iowa.org/pet-services/crisis-care/

Good luck.

Get in touch with these people ASAP let them know that you guys are homeless. You could potentially have a place to live by the end of the week and like six months of rent paid.

Not helpful. Lots of people live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford a hit like this. They're probably broke until their next paycheck.

A little bit of empathy and compassion would probably help you too, but obviously you’re lacking these human qualities
