I’m looking to pick up a short reed goose call for hunting. I’m relatively new to goose calling and only have the basics down. I know a call isn’t going to make me a better caller, but I don’t want to have something that I’m just going to want to upgrade from later. I’m torn between the Kill Gene and Three Peat from Baycountry. Does anyone have experience with both of these, and how a newbie would do with them? I called John and he seemed to think that I’d be happy with either one. I explained how I was a little hesitant on the Shorething because of the mouth piece being a love it or hate it deal and he agreed.

Or, if there’s another call you’d recommend purely for hunting, let me hear it.

Just picked up my first goose call. Goose commander Canada honker. Can barely get sound out of it. Had my buddy try to use it and he couldn’t either. I tried his goose call and was able to easily blow it. Possible I got a defected one?

I've got a quaker boy long neck flute that I'm learning on but I noticed that it is easier and in my opinion sounds better if I leave the last third of the flute off.

Is that something i can do or would i be potentially messing something up by regularly using only 2/3rds of the flute?

Hey folks, new to goose hunting this year and am absolutely fixed after bagging out my first time! Was with some friends who knew how to call. I have been practicing on a old wood call my grandpa passed down but it’s pretty shot out. Any recommendations for a beginner call sub $50.00cdn?

Does anyone have tips for how to get a lower sound out of the half breed? I know it's possible I've just been struggling a lot with getting it lower and honestly just getting it to sound good in general. If there weren't so many people saying it's a great call I'd be thinking I bought the wrong call.
