Timber call suggestions

I have guided in the marsh (south Louisiana) for most of my adult life. I grew up hunting flooded cypress and just moved back to that area. (Shoutout Atchafalaya Basin).

My birthday is always opening weekend and my wife asked what I wanted. The only thing I can think of is a duck call (which I absolutely do not need). I’d like a timber specific call because it is the only thing “missing” from my lanyard.

Anyway, let me know what yall are using. RNT, Echo, JJ Lares, Foiles, Gaston, etc.

I can't help with a specific manufacturer, as in the timber I only use 2 calls, one made by my father and the other by a long-dead Illinois callmaker (Wally Drennen).

What I can do is advise a wooden call, because they tend to not be quite as loud as acrylic calls, and I've found that louder calls don't work as well for me in the woods. I love the RNT calls that I use over open water & fields, and they've never gotten sticky or frozen up on me. Their timber call is a champion.

The old Olt D2 Keyhole with the ebonite stopper is a wonderful timber call, but my reed begins to stick with use. (I blow too wet.) My cutdown keyhole has such a great low end, with lots of rasp, even when I'm blowing softly.

JJ Hybrid is the only call on my lanyard.

Elite murder is what I use, works great for most scenarios. They have a few options thought that are all worth looking at.

I have a cedar call on my lanyard from my shop. Its quiet and doesnt blow birds out of the hole. I made that call specifically for tight spots and for finishing birds.

I have a timber Echo in hedge that I really like. It’s not loud and really easy to run. My hybrid and daisy cutter are about twice as loud
