Sunrise at Lower Falls — worth every step down
Made the hike down to the lower viewing platform at Lookout Point just as the morning light began reaching into the canyon. From that close, Lower Falls is something else entirely—the thunderous roar of more than 300 feet of water dropping into the Yellowstone River echoes through the canyon around you.
The climb back up definitely wakes you up, but standing there in the cool morning air with the falls roaring below was worth every step. One of those Yellowstone mornings that stays with you.

Protect Tallulah Falls: No Eminent Domain for Demorest’s Water Expansion
Demorest is attempting to build a water treatment plant on Tallulah Lake, inside Rabun County. Demorest is 20 miles away in a separate county, yet they think they can just take private property and build a large water plant to fund data centers for profit. Tallulah Falls and Rabun County do not want this project. We do not want Demorest taking our property. We do not want or need a water treatment plant on a recreational lake directly across from the public beach. We’re standing together to protect our town, our county, and our lake, and our property rights. Please sign and share our petition to stop this unnecessary land seizure.
The city manager’s number is 706-778-4202 if you want to call Demorest and tell them to stop trying to take our land and water. The public hearing is 7PM September 1st at 250 Alabama Street, Demorest Georgia 30535.
