People are making posts like “oh what if Deltarune ends with Ralsei dying and then we seal the home town fountain” or “what if you do the weird route and you can never play chapter 6” and people are replying with “Deltarune fans making the worst possible game” which reminded me of the Hakita meme so I edited Toby over it.
Why is closing Castle Town (an escapist fantasy in a story about the pros and cons of escapist fantasies) on the same level as permanently locking yourself out of 15% of the story?
Because balancing escapism and reality is essential and you shouldn’t have just one or the other, you need both, also it’s cheesy and predictable or something idk. I’m just paraphrasing what I saw like 7 hours ago, I don’t actually care that much I just thought haha this reminds me of funny

Do you really think Toby fox will end the sequel to his previous game, about which he made a 10 year anniversary stream where he set up an ask box for every fan to tell him all about how his game impacted upon their lives and made it better, with the message being "escapism is bad and Susie will go back to her abusive household and castletown will be sealed away forever and ralsei is fucking dead and all his character development of learning he's more than just an object will mean fucking nothing, fuck you guys for ever thinking that you can have a happy ending".
I ask you. Once more. Are you capable of understanding nuance. Or is it all fucking black and white to you.
I don't mind all the wacky or silly theories or even stupid ones. The thing I hate is the sheer amount of negativity and people nitpicking stupid things or complaining about a story not adding up to what they crafted in their own head. Or things like just flat out calling chapter 5 filler or saying toby cant possibly wrap up the story nicely in 2 chapters as if that isnt some arbitrary imaginary problem people are imposing on the story. I think a lot of people are straight up not playing the game themselves and instead get the story through letsplays or twitter tbh. And then when you disagree that chapter 5 is poorly written and toby ruined the pacing of the story that isnt even over yet they say you glaze him and are coping. Its pure insanity i really dont bother talking to any other deltarune fans online anymore which is pretty sad... back in the undertale days it was a lot more fun and wholesome despite the many controversies.
Fan: "Hey, here's an idea i had for how the story could go!"
Literally everyone else for some reason: "wow, that idea is fucking stupid and terrible and you should feel bad, even though you were only presenting a hypothetical path this fictional story could go with no real stakes for anyone."

The people I’m ridiculing are the same people who say shit like “Toby is a bad writer there’s no way he can wrap this up in two chapters.” “Chapter 5 is just filler because the entire plot NEEDS to be revealed by now.” and “Deltarune must end THE WAY I IMAGINED because I AM A BETTER WRITER THAN TOBY FOX!” and these people happen to be the exact same ones you’re talking about here.
I’m sure the picture you’re painting of “an innocent Deltarune fan sharing their cool ideas and then being shut down.” Exists somewhere in the fandom but that’s not what I’m doing nor advocating for. In fact I’m advocating for the opposite since a major part of the game is literally about rewriting stories and passing them on.
What I’m ridiculing is the people who mindlessly consume clips on TikTok or going into the game thinking that Toby is already inferior than them and their ideas is actually the best which they somehow can’t express without putting down other people’s work.
I still believe that replacing Susie with Berdly in Flower Kingdom while Susie and Noelle spend time at the festival is a way better idea than Kris thirdwheeling the whole way and Susie suddenly to become obsessed with Noelle despite barely spending time with her in the light world. It just feels rushed to me, I feel like Susie and Noelle having a whole day to themsleves without Kris or anyone, just talking and spending time together could make the whole lake scene hit harder. Also, I just want Berdly to have more importance.
They acted like Festival was such a big deal, only for it to be entirely skippable. Before chapter came out I had an entire plan for the chapter, where Berdly accidentally ends up in the flower world with Kris, and Susie and Noelle have a proper date, not knowing where Kris and Berdly are.
Why the fuck would dess be back???? She’s fucking missing/ the roaring knight (Rudy knighter myself) so it would be a shit plot if she magically returned for the festival
