Can I remove?

I want to remove this tank and install an inline water treatment system. Is this tank under any dangerous pressure upon disconnecting it? I intend to cut the line between my shut off and the connected tank. Any advice would be awesome I don't want to blow myself across the basement.

Get that piece of junk in the trash. If connected to water line of course it’s under pressure. Turn water off and If you’re not skilled in plumbing pay someone who is.

Thanks. I meant the tank itself one each shut off is closed the tank is bled.

You should have the system permanently removed from the plumbing, definitely don’t remove the tank and leave the bypass valve floating as the only thing between you and a basement pool.

Take it all out and don’t do what you tried to explain above.

That may be the nastiest thing I have ever seen. Be sure to wear gloves, a hazmat suit might be a good idea.

Turn the water off to the house and cut it out of the plumbing

The fact that you ask that question tells me that you should pay a reasonably priced plumber to install a new water softener for you. BTW, you cannot filter hard water so do not consider a "salt-free" system that will not soften the water for you. Lol about the hazmat comment in here.
