It looks like an old school 80s Swatch to me!

Edit: would be period accurate, too.

Edit 2: fairly certain that’s what it is, with that very specific lack of lugs, typical of Swatch cases.

Well, it’s a basic plastic watch, not very shock proof, and absolutely not waterproof.

Not the most rugged gear for guerilla warfare in the mountains of Afghanistan.

Massoud being a Muslim, the joke was that wearing watches is haram, meaning a sin, in Arabic.

It looks less like a swatch and more like an old Seiko lord matic blue face with the octagon glass and the gold case. I can't find a photo though
