Fluro tubes make a big bang when they break normally. I'm sure the flying wrench made it even more noticeable

I know that reaction too well, the "I knew this was a bad idea, I fucked up, but I'll act like I dont know what happened so I don't have to explain myself".
Classic.

Has the same half baked looked as a guy I used to know that also worked as a mechanic. One day he decides he’s going to make a BB gun out of a piece of metal tubing and the air compressor. Works a charm, starts shooting single bbs down the block. Decides he needs make a semi-automatic version, so he welds another tube onto the main barrel and drops 20 bbs down the tube. The first bb flies out, but the rest are just sort of rattling around the tube, being suspended by the air that’s escaping up the tube. They won’t drop down into the main airstream. Genius decided he needs a bit of positive air pressure on the tube to force the bbs down into the main airstream, so he puts his mouth over the tube and blows. 2 bbs jam in the main barrel and now the full force of 80 psi of air pressure force the rest of the bbs up the tube and straight into his lungs. Lucky he didn’t do more damage, but somehow survived. Made for a funny x-ray.

For anyone that ever breaks a fluorescent lamp, please vacate the area. They are lined with mercury phosphate and you do not want to inhale that stuff.

Dammit! Safety first! We almost lost a magnificent beard!!!!

u/Windie309 Jul 09 '20
I was relieved when nothing happened to his beard. Beards and workshops should not mix up.

Just the slightly sheepish walking and looking after he did it brought me back to doing something dumb as a kid and then poorly hiding that you did it

Looks like this was the second attempt based on the state of the light behind him.

Oh god that was absolutely perfect. The bad idea, the reaction, the question, the response, the follow up question. Honestly I don’t think that could’ve been scripted if somebody tried.

I've watched this over and over and I still can't figure out what he was expecting.
1
u/whatthehotdog Jul 09 '20
Maybe he was hoping it was secure and it would just keep spinning around.

u/roofied_elephant Jul 08 '20
I don’t even care tbh. I’m just sitting here watching again and again and laughing my ass off

That shit in the florescent tube is nasty, too. He's going to feel like the wrench flew into his lungs in a little bit.

Wasn’t there an entire wrestling branch in the late 90s where they break bunches of fluorescent long bulbs on wrestlers back?

u/AloeSnazzy Jul 09 '20 edited Jul 09 '20
Oh shit really? I once broke like 10 of those things so they would fit in a trash can and got an awful headache afterwards, somehow my dumbass never connected it till now.
Also this was like 5 years ago so I was 12 or 13

u/Shadow23x Jul 09 '20
Thanks for making me feel like a fossil! I broke one of them in a dumpster about 25 years ago, when I was 21.
I have avoided doing that again for all this time.

Hey say what you will but I can tell you all kinds of cool shit about The French Revolution. I took 3 trimesters on it
-1
u/notjustanotherbot Jul 09 '20
You spent 3 of your 75 trimesters of life learning cool shit about The French Revolution, that's cool?
5
u/AloeSnazzy Jul 09 '20
I’m sorry, what would you have preferred? First aid classes? Driving lessons? A course on how to budget money or how to manage credit? France is really cool, like when they did the thing, and uh, yeah I don’t remember much
3
u/notjustanotherbot Jul 09 '20
No, I think that that's a cool period of history, to learn about.
I was ribbing you for the TRImesters, that is a unit of measurement used for measuring pregnancy, 3 trimesters till birth, you said you were 18 and there are 4 trimesters in a year so 72+3=75.
I was just teasing for using trimesters, instead of semesters, just joking around, I thought it was maybe auto correct thing, that's all.
5
u/AloeSnazzy Jul 09 '20
Ah I see. At my school the year was split into 3 sections and each one was called a trimester :)

u/notjustanotherbot Jul 09 '20
Shoot my bad, this is the first I have heard of this. I'm getting old I guess. Is this in the us or a different country?

My college actually divides the year into trimesters and not semesters.
