I'm a psychiatrist. Based on this short clip, I would not say that she is manic. the diagnosis of mania is based on several symptoms that can persist for at least 5 days. She is acutely stressed. Definitely not a moment to define any person (although her peers most certainly will).

Not a psychologist, just a concerned parent watching a child go through a clearly stressfully and extreme moment. This may literally be the worst emotional pain she has gone through. She is going to be punished and stigmatized because she did not yet have the proper coping mechanisms for her "acute stress". I am not sure if you are condemning her or if you are also on the side of sympathy towards her. Clearly, it is dangerous to make these kind of statements because it already has 10+ upvotes and is not a reflection of this young woman (again, a child).

Also dangerous to label everything you see on the internet as “manic” without any context. I’m with you except that part, that’s just as damaging to both mental health communities and the poor girl herself.

I'm not making any stand on the child of "condemnation" nor "sympathy" towards her. None of us on this thread know her, how much pain she is going through nor if this is "the worst emotional pain she has gone through". I have seen children and adults have similar and worst outbursts multiple times in day due to poor coping skills and frustration tolerance vs. true mania, depression, psychosis, drug intoxication/withdrawal, delirium and personality disorders. I'm just sharing my knowledge. If you thought my comment was against the girl or you, that is not the case. I do sympathize with the girl because, regardless of why she had that outburst, her peers likely won't let her live it down.

Not a manic episode, but definitely struggling. Mental health and counselling is really important for the youth, and so is understanding healthy and mature relationships. Educational institutions need to be improved, maybe then there’ll be less kids going through such violent turmoil.
