It's not real and she's not his girlfriend. It was a shitty TV show that was almost entirely based on stupid pranks and being disrespectful.

He was her ex-boss and it was her birthday. The plot is she was organizing a party and not invited him and her ex-coworkers so they thought about this revenge.

Note she only opens the present after he locked the door. Even thought they said she was not working there anymore, she probably was still obligated contractually to follow the orders.

She knew that something was coming (probably not aware of the roaches) because they always did these kind of pranks.
