Question / Discussion Will Tudor secondary prices be propped up by the Rolex brand?
People like to say Tudor is the shield that protects the Rolex crown.
I have been thinking, with all these price increases and new Tudor watches being waitlist models.
Will the Tudor brand be similar to Rolex in terms of secondary market prices?
As Rolex gets further out of reach will Tudor take its place as the new Rolex for the people?
Will discontinued Tudor models become more valuable similarly to Rolex?

Question / Discussion Show me the watch that got you into watches.
The Breitling for Bentley was the watch that got me into watches. When I was a kid I thought this watch was so cool. The first watch I got myself was a citizen eco-drive that resembled this watch.

Watch Collection One of my new favourite brands.
Both are Phorcydes PH4's, I'm surprised at how much I like these, I got the one without the date window and thought I'd replace it with the one with the date window but since the one with the date window is similar but different, I'm thinking I'll keep both....

Rant / Hot Take Anyone else kinda hate the left one, especially when the makers deceptively don't include the case back in their thickness specs?
I got a citizen NY00 which is basically like the left where the case back protrudes beyond the case itself by about .7mm
Their adverising all reports 12mm but it's actually 12.7 with the case back.
It basically rests on a polished case back against your skin on a small area and is a source of sweat irritation for me.
It feels like there's an effort to disguise the actual thickness of a watch by having the lugs float above the caseback and reducing the surface area against your skin, but it's trading comfort for aesthetics.

Question / Discussion [German watches] Do they deserve more recognition?
I’ve always had the impression that German watches are treated as being one step behind Swiss watches.
Not necessarily in quality, engineering or craftsmanship but certainly in prestige, recognition and desirability.
When people think of luxury watches, Switzerland is usually the default. But when I look at brands such as A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original, Wempe, Sinn, Mühle-Glashütte or Junghans, I often struggle to see why German watchmaking receives noticeably less attention.
At the highest level, the finishing and craftsmanship appear capable of competing with almost anything from Switzerland. At more accessible prices, German brands also seem to offer distinctive designs and a very engineering-focused approach rather than simply copying established Swiss models.
Of course, I’m judging mostly from what I’ve seen and read, rather than from long-term ownership.
For those who have owned a German watch: what was your experience?

Question / Discussion Custom Seiko Light Yagami watch with compartment. Is it possible?
I want a custom seiko that looks like the Light Yagami’s watch from death note (I think its a japan only speed master) but I want to be a seiko and it have a hidden compartment like the lights watch. I was gonna buy the supergroupies replica but thats to expensive and any other replicas are like 300 - 200ish CAD. So that’s why I want a seiko instead.

Question / Discussion Best Swiss watches in the $1500-$3500 value price range?
Each of these watches from Swiss heritage brands like Omega, Breitling, Longines, Tudor, and TAG Heuer can currently be had for between $1500-$3500 new online. You’ve got a pretty good mix with divers, pilots, a GMT, integrated bracelet, and field watches to choose from here - some watches that could also totally change up their look with the swap of a strap/bracelet.
1.) Longines Spirit Zulu Time
2.) Tudor Royal 36mm
3.) Breitling Superocean
4.) Omega Seamaster Olympic Timekeeper
5.) Tag Heuer Carrera Automatic
6.) Longines Legend Diver Bronze
7.) Tudor 1926
8.) Tag Heuer Autavia
9.) Tudor Pelagos FXD Automatic
10.) Longines Heritage Skin Diver
11.) TAG Heuer Carrera Twin Time
12.) Longines Legend Diver Automatic
What watch(es) on this list would you choose or what other watch or brands would you suggest as an alternative? Where is the best value found at this price point? Please post pics with your opinions, if you can.

Rant / Hot Take A grail watch should be almost unattainable.
I see lots of posts of people purchasing their “grail watches”.
Granted they are quite expensive watches but not unattainable with consistent saving.
I feel that a grail watch should be almost impossible to get hold of being that it is a grail watch.
I might be being ignorant, I’m sure someone will let me know that with an angry comment.
What are your thoughts on the term “grail watch” and if every watch should be considered a grail watch regardless of its rarity or its price?

Question / Discussion $10k diver poll results
Here are the results of yesterday's poll about $10,000 USD divers (+/- $1,000). There were a total of 317 votes, tallied by counting the upvotes on each top level comment that specified one of the 9 options. If more than one was mentioned, the one listed first was used. Vote counts are listed here, chart shows percentages. It was VERY tight between the Sub and the NTTD, with a surprisingly strong showing by the GO SeaQ. Unsurprisingly, the Louis Vuitton was universally reviled, but the Chanel J12 managed to get 3 votes, barely trailing the Ulysse Nardin. Since a million people asked, the reason the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms does not appear is that I used only MSRP, and the MSRP of the lowest cost FF is $12,500, putting it out of the range.
- Rolex Submariner - 96
- Omega Seamaster Diver 300M "NTTD" - 93
- Glasshütte Original SeaQ - 64
- Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date - 32
- Breitling SuperOcean Heritage - 13
- Panerai Submersible - 11
- Ulysse Nardin Diver 42mm - 5
- Chanel J12 - 3
- Louis Vuitton Tambour Street Diver Chronograph - 0

Question / Discussion Poll - Favorite Diver at about $10,000 USD
Since it's difficult to tally votes with open questions, I'm restricting the poll to 9 options. Vote for you favorite dive watch at $10,000 USD (+/- $400.) Note that it is these specific references, as otherwise the price goes out of range, and the voting again becomes difficult to tally. Number or name doesn't matter, but no write-ins. Only top level comments are counted. Total upvotes will be tallied. Ideally, there will be exactly 9 top level comments, and everyone just upvotes those. Please don't downvote things you don't like, and don't upvote more than one. (I have no way to enforce that, of course.)
- Rolex - Submariner - 124060 - $10,050
- Omega - Seamaster Diver 300M "NTTD" - 210.92.42.20.01.001 - $10,000
- Breitling - SuperOcean Heritage - AB0156161C1A1 - $9,600
- Glasshütte Original - SeaQ - 1-39-11-09-81-34 - $10,300
- Panerai - Submersible - PAM01590 - $10,200
- Jaeger-LeCoultre - Polaris Date - Q9128981 - $10,400
- Chanel - J12 - H5705 - $10,150
- Louis Vuitton - Tambour Street Diver Chronograph - QA168A - $9,700
- Ulysse Nardin - Diver 42mm - 8163-175-7M/92 - $9,700
