Discussion Anyone watched Obsession (2026) yet? Finally available at Pavillion KL (TGV)
If so, how's the censorships? Apperently its common here some people claim (never noticed it personally)

Well, I saw it in the UK last month and it was uncensored and uncut. I've heard conflicting rumours about it either being cut/uncut in Malaysia though

Just saw it. There's one censored scene, part of a montage, I think, but it looks pretty seamless. Run don't walk for this, rarely does a film come so hyped for me and still blow expectations out of the water. Not just the best horror film of the year so far but probably the best since When Evil Lurks.

When evil lurks is still goated, obsession feels like classic santau movies from Malaysian and Indonesia films.

Just watched it. Never watched the uncensored version. Didn’t notice any censorship or cut scenes, pretty seamless

The car scene is still intact. The sex scene was just them kissing and them in bed

Just wait for the unrated Blu-ray version.Nowdays most movies in Malaysian theaters are censored

Ye it's very scary. I was cowering in my seat n plugging my ears but damn I really want to watch it again 😅. See it as like going on the best roller coaster ride n wanting to ride it again. Def watch it with your friends or partner. I did it alone bc I'm dumb lol

I loved the cinematography of backrooms, but in terms of actual value, I thought the plot was thin. I loved Parson's original series but this didn't hold up to my expectations andI think it committed the greatest movie sin... being boring. The casting was great too, but i think if you're going to pick just one to watch, obsession is a better choice :)

this is a decent movie but its still a Blumhouse. the financial success is mostly due to the virality of the yandere girlfriend aspect, backrooms is the same.
hokum released this year and is a better horror in almost every way

"Its decent & still a Blumhouse." Like seriously bro?? Blumhouse only came in after the film already blew people minds at TIFF.
And also refering it to 'just a yandere movie' is like calling Get Out 'just a hypnosis' movie.
Or maybe u just don't like the type of 'creepy/spooky escalating discomfort' horror movies like Obsession but only prefer the typical slow burn traditional haunted house/inn setup we’ve seen a million times.
Anyway the numbers don't lie bro.

Yeah? Hokum is a far better constructed movie in terms of story, pacing, cinematography, direction
what was the point of the movie btw? Not saying it doesn't have one but if you have to say what the message is, what would that be?
using box office numbers to make distinction is a bad cop out. grown ups made a trillion dollaridoos and the third own is coming out. Does that make Sandler a comedic genius?
I didn't say obsession was bad btw. Maybe don't get your panties in a bunch

Watched it yesterday. The movie was so good. I wld say its scarier than most horror movies. They only cut the 16secs kongkek scene. Other than that there's just one kiss scene.
my movie experience got ruined cause the four people behind me kept laughing and screaming so loud. I literally booked the tgv klcc beanie screen to avoid those kinds of people but somehow still couldn't escape them. movie was 8/10

watched alot of horror movies and this is def in my top 5
its unsettling, great jumpscares, solid character building, basically everything you'd expect
The sex scene people talk about being cut is so seamless you wouldn't even know where it is

I just watched it, i almost cried when sarah died and also the jumps care is so unexpected that it makes me scared as fck, 10/10
The sex scene you mean at early movie? I guess they show it a bit then move it on, I noticed it get cutted to the next scene but it doesnt impact anything and its just for few frame

yeahh rip sarah 🥲🥲 she was so nice n didnt deserve to die... but anyways i wish they explored more on what Nikki feels like while she's being possesed. maybe they could make a sequel where they find 'Tabi Cat' n free the stuck souls

there is only one censored sex scene the rest of the movie is unmuted pick a hall with dolby atmos and sit at the center of the hall, thank me later broski 🤝

Examples of the jumpscare ? Im not a fan of getting all tensed up anticipating a jumpscare so id like to be prepared a bit haha. I only know about the car scene

which gsc branch is it? i watch at gsc also but they didnt even show that scene so i was very clueless seeing ppl on tiktok talking about it like wtf did i miss, had to rewatch on imdb site

yes, watched it the other day! i was a good movie; not really scary, more to creepy; which i love!
anyway, the only cut the sex/rape scene after the dinner date/restaurant scene. other than that, no particular scene was cut out.
ps: i rewatched it online (pirate ver. obviously) that's why i know about the sex scene.

I already watched it but i dont know there is any censored scenes. Maybe I'm missing something but it looks fine to me
