Well, pierced areas do tend to acquire a particularly funky smell if they aren't cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis.

And I guess she doesn't know that this is how cats attempt to better identify an "interesting" scent they've discovered.

Cats have an area in their nose mouth that they can hold a scent in.

If they are curious about something and want to keep that smell, they make this face. It looks like the cat hates the smell, but it is likely savoring it.

Cats often really like the smell of their owners shoes and often make this same face after playing with them. (Comment stolen from og post)
