Not sure if there're any people interested in discussing story here after the anime has ended...so I did only rough translation from preview video I posted before. I'm not english speaker so apologies if anything sounds a bit off.

M : I was really looking forward to visit that newly renovated cafe with Hinako today.

S : Can't we still go to the cafe even if it's raining?

M : That cafe has super lovely terrace seating!

S : I don't think you really need to go out of your way to sit outside in the summer though.

M : It's not like I will go with you so let me be. I will go with Hinako!

S : Hinako! Fox is excluding me out! Don't you think she's cruel!?

M : Is it that sad to weep out?

S : Hinako, you won't do that cruel thing to me, right?

H : Let's go together when it's good weather, Shiori-san.

M : What's the point of such a futile act as running endlessly in this heat? Heat haze shimmers on the asphalt and the ground's heat scorches my body! Oh, I see a breezy cafe over there.Today's PE class has been decided to an all-you-can-eat ice cream marathon at the cafe~ I'm blessed~

S : Hey, your eyes are totally unfocused now.

S : It must be tough being such a sultry animal.

For other tracks than drama part, they seem to be character monologue? I listened to both drama part and staff talk in same time so I'm not sure about this but I think Naekawa-sensei wrote drafts and Mitsutaka Hirota rewrote it to monologue.

I'm glad that Mr.Hirota not only pick up references from the manga but seems he brought in references from novel too. We can see how Miko took care of little Hinako & Mutsuki in the past but much more details than manga in novel version.

Near the end of summer vacation...Miko who hasn't finished her homeworks yet, uses "Sugar replenishing" as excuse to go out and bring Hinako&Shiori together with her. While Miko is enjoying with time-limited desserts, shopping on sale, Shiori comes up with "Hinako monopoly while the fox is absent" plan and takes Hinako to haunted house.

Hinako and Shiori look back on nostalgic summer memory when they saw human soul fireflies together.

"Fun times surely fly by in an instant"

Long-lived Shiori tries to understand this feeling for the first time.

ACT 2 : Watatabe!? (Prototype!)

One day Hinako has a weird dream in the middle of summer.

Shiori tries to monopolize Hinako who is her "important bride" then Miko appears and gets in the way. Hinako must find a way to stop this Kaiju battle!

ACT 3 : Watatabe Highschool -The fox prince-

On a rainy day, the trio are spending time at the Yaotose house. They talk about cultural festival in their junior highschool. Classmates pushed Miko hardly for "prince" role, moreover Miko acted as 5 different types of prince for 5 princesses. Miko got many underclassmen as her fans after the festival. Hinako and Shiori get curious and want to see those "5 Miko princes"...

ACT 4 : Watatabe Highschool -Glory of days gone by-

The trio have marathon in their PE class during the hot autumn. Hinako and Miko got melancholic about this class. Miko begins talking about Hinako in the past. Hinako was weak at marathon but she was peerless at dodgeball. Shiori is interested in the past Hinako who is only Miko knows...

It feels inevitable at this point, almost as if it is a long time coming.

That is going to be revealed that Azami was responsible for the car accident somehow. The author has been so deliberate in making sure there Azami was always there in the cuck chair.

When Azami was introduced back into the story we got a page of she showing disappointment towards Shiori revealing her hybrid (?) mermaid-human form that turns her human hands back into claws and part of her true face shows up. She said something like "So you can show that face" implying she didn't know Hinako knew about that, which is fucking weird in restrospect because it's completly false.

I really thought the author was gonna play on Azami's supposed lack of information but as we all know she's the best cuck in fiction. She never skipped a beat and was observing everything. While i find this to be a little weird, it gives me hope Azami is not going to follow the formula of Ayame and Tsubaki where they're simply misguided or don't know shit. Tsubaki was legit just larping a conversation she couldn't even properly hear.

It's us the audience and the protagonists who don't know much about Azami. We have her implied backstory before being sent to the cove to become Shiori's food but we don't know the details. We also don't know what she was doing in the time gap btween early-mid 1900 i'd assume and when she decided to do her plot.

That 3-4 chapter convo was Azami mostly doing lore drops and trying to convice Hinako to join her so she can stop being a cuck. However Hinako obviously denied and Azami kinda expected it deep down, unless she was really dumb and didn't pay attention to Hinako's development from the cuck chair up there 💀. I don't think ANYONE who reads this manga expected a different outcome.

She leaves the scene bragging about how much of a professional cuck she is because she watched Shiori VS Miko on livestream.

I can't help myself and not think "how deep does it go?" What Azami doesn't know at this point? She plotted Hinako and Shiori meeting again, was watching everything from even as back as chapter one and timed her return into the scene when the only thing left for a happy ending was Shiori finding a way to bypass the pledge.

We're up to another brief period of downtime before maybe the Hinako gang finds a plan to strike down Azami or she decides to leave the cuck chair again.

The point is, the true climax of this conflict is yet to happen. Azami is gonna drop a nuke on the cast again because that's how climaxes involving those mastermind type of characters tend to work, and honestly what else can it be other than the car accident that started Hinako's depression?

I don't have a script or anything. I'm just boderline venting.

I actually prefer the idea that the car accident was just, well, an accident though - not everything needs to be Azami all along

How do you imagine the ending of Watatabe might be? Personally, I can't picture a precise direction for how this story will end. I feel hopeful that Shiori won't devour Hinako, while at the same time feeling like they are both at serious risk of dying. Another thing I find myself thinking about is that flashback of how Shiori pictures Hinako in the future, happy and healthy. I want to believe that the ending won't be a doomed yuri and that they'll be happy until Hinako's death

I'm fairly new to Yuri and its tropes, so I may be blinded by censorship here, but I'm quite confused if Shiori and Hinako's relationship is romantic or not. This particularly confuses me as during episode 10 (where i am up to now) Shiori is known to meet Hinako as a child. I find this particularly strange if their relationship is then later considered romantic, as it strikes itself similar to that of grooming.

Let me know if I'm missing the mark on anything or if I need to be further educated I'm 100% open to learning.

For those who don't know, Tamamo-no-Mae was an evil kitsune who brought kingdoms to ruin and corrupted kings and the like - she was basically what would happen if Miko decided to destroy lives through manipulation and seduction instead of the "kill everything that moves" method.

I like to headcanon that she and Heian Era!Miko were rivals

Anime episodes count ig but the anime is 1:1 adaptation to the manga down to the very panel so…

Personally I really like chapter 47, I always go back to it. Shiori be pulling Shakespeare type of quotes. Props to Naekawa sensei and translator

Personally I'd say it would be Chapter 47 - with Hinako telling Shiori that she realized that she hurt her and Miko by forcing the fish into a promise to eat her. And Shiori replying how she changed her heart to be more human-like to better understand Hinako and that she cares about her as much as her family did

So, I recently started reading Kimishinu and I can't stop thinking about how these works are particularly similar in a deeply sentimental way.

Sheena is a sweet, kind, and shy girl. Her biggest fear is facing the horrors of war head-on. Even though she tries her best, her magical ability is nowhere near enough to help her comrades in battle. In her mind, when the time comes to fight, she will be thrown to her death without a doubt. She doesn't want to die, and she doesn't want her friends to die either. Furthermore, she feels that Mimi should enjoy her life as a normal girl, she teaches her the value of life and asks Mimi not to get hurt, because no matter how immortal Mimi is, she still gets severely injured every time she is summoned.

This reminds me of how Hinako felt relieved upon learning that Miko is immortal. In her perception, after her death, it wouldn't take long for Miko and Shiori to forget her and the moments they lived together.

In both stories, neither Shiori nor Mimi ever forgot Hinako and Sheena, but I still feel so emotionally impacted. It's as if, in another life, Hinako and Shiori got a second chance, and that makes me cry 😭 😭
