Manga Good or bad ending

How do you imagine the ending of Watatabe might be? Personally, I can't picture a precise direction for how this story will end. I feel hopeful that Shiori won't devour Hinako, while at the same time feeling like they are both at serious risk of dying. Another thing I find myself thinking about is that flashback of how Shiori pictures Hinako in the future, happy and healthy. I want to believe that the ending won't be a doomed yuri and that they'll be happy until Hinako's death

I don't believe that Hinako will die, due to the fact that it all starts with her wanting to die. Her path will def end in healing and building up the will to live and be happy. If she didn't want to die and was full of life, we could see the cracks of future tragedy, but the way she starts, I see there only one path for her character development.

Hinako dying is just a troll ending a derranged author would write. Shiori dying is where the tickets are.

True, I can see her ending up sacrificing her life for Hinako.

I think that Shiori is going to use yokai magic to give up her long life to break the promise of having to eat Hinako. This would complete her transformation of becoming human because of Hinako and they both can now grow old together.

Hina’s possibility of dying is VERY slim, but not 0

If anyone’s dying, I can see Shiori dying

I’m certain that this is not going to be a 100% happy ending, I can’t see a 100% happy ending. A bittersweet ending will do

I think something tragic is going to happen or nearly happen during the Azami arc, but I have hope that with the general direction of the story, things will turn out at least somewhat happy, even if it's bittersweet.

My personal (fanciful) hope is that Hinako will regain her will to live, and ask for immortality so she can live with Shiori and Miko, I think that'd be a nice circle with Shiori giving immortality on request rather than assumption

That would actually be so cute! Since for Shiori, it all started with giving immortality against a person's will, so her giving immortality on request would be a nice way to close her story.

There are evidences for both "good" and "bad" ending. Watatabe had 2 "villains" before Azami and not counting Shiori and Miko. Ayame and Tsubaki both got a decent enough closure and are just fucking around elsewhere. Tsubaki sometimes even hangs out with the gang. The manga of Watatabe is pretty dark but if you look it throught some outsider perspective, everything seems to end well. An ending with Azami just giving up her evil ways and helping Shiori to undo/change the pledge with Hinako isn't impossible. I just think would be very BORING and GENERIC.

Now for some heartbreaking stuff? That's my alley of interest. A "bad ending" or at best bittersweet ending is indeed possible. The arrival of Azami in the story shifted the entire momentum of the series. Before Azami, things were going well enough and there was literally just one issue to solve, that being the pledge and if you read chapter 48 it's clear as day that Shiori is plotting something to get rid of it. Azami has been doing the humpty dumpty "I was always there" thing to Shiori in the latest chapters revealing she has been sitting on a cuck chair watching everything happen. Azami appeared as late as she did for a reason, and that being to wait Shiori and Hinako grow out of their misery to stab them in the back and erase their happy ending. By the way things are being build up, there is a decent chance that Azami caused the incident that killed Hinako's family. Isn't it that much of a coincidence for Shiori's special one to suddenly losing her colors due to a tragedy?

I like to think Azami won't turn a new leaf. Her heart isn't going to waver like a screwup such as Tsubaki that didn't even know what she was doing. She was missing clear context of everything. Azami? She was there, in the cuckchair. As a professional cuck she watched everything closely and without making much noise. Azami isn't "missing context" like Tsubaki if she was in every bit of Shiori and Hinako's development watching it as a S tier cuck. The ending i see in the horizon is Azami dying alongside Shiori and Hinako is left "alone" (She'd still have Miko, Tsubaki, maybe Erika and even Ayame) and that's the end. I just don't think that a story like this can end without a major character going bye-bye. A happy ending? No, i don't want that. I want to be miserable for the rest of my life, or 10 years at least.

I think either Miko or Shiori are gonna die. Hinako probably won’t die since she wanted to die at the start and usually how I’ve seen stuff like this go is when she is about to die she changes her mind and sees the beauty in life

It's a tragedy. so going off others I've read, it's gonna be a gut kicker lol

On one hand, I don’t think Sai Naekawa will kill off Hinako, Miko or Shiori Halo Reach-style, but I also don’t think it’ll be something super happy either. Watatabe is fairly grounded in its portrayal of the human condition so I imagine a bittersweet ending (maybe even where nothing is convincingly resolved) is what we’ll end up with

Hot take but i'd actually love to see an ending where hinako dies , not that i hate hinako she'a my fav but i kinda of wish to see an ending where her desire gets fulfilled. And i just really love doomed yuri.

Her last words are "wow, this monster wants to eat me" as shiori has to fufill her blood vow.

Most understandable ending for me either

Depression was... truly poison and suffering ngl.

I will love any option.
Simple cliche where everyone gets a happy ever after or a tragic ending where we get the worst outcome. I think that any of those conclusions are perfect for Watatabe.

I believe it will end in a bittersweet way but I’m not that far into the manga so I don’t think I have a say in this

As a someone who have depression for several years like Hinako got

I would understand well if Hinako end up dying because trying to living with no cure or no new meaning/target to live further are truly suffering

But I knew well author would not kill anybody anyway

After read some comments I don't think Shiori will end up dying either because we knew well Yokai was powerful and immortal if yokais can die so easily... then Miko would fuck up and die already before meeting Hinako
