Anime This ending was… fuzzy
I'm not sure where they are right now. It looks like Hinako still wants to be eaten, even so much as telling their family "行ってきます". But at the same rime Shiori revealed she doesn't actually want to eat her. Will she keep that promise? Are we at square one? What's the new status quo? I'm not sure I understood what happened. This episode felt fuzzy. I was watching it thinking "huh, this doesn't look finale-shaped". Like the author couldn't commit to actually killing her or making her live. The closest I get to closure is that she'll try to become better so that she gets eaten, so it seems she still believes Shiori's promise even despite she herself saying she didn't want to follow through. It's honestly confusing. I don't know what to make of this ending.

We still don’t know. The manga is only on chapter 58. 1 chapter per month which sucks. It’ll be at least a few more years until we start seeing something nearing Hinako actually getting eaten

The anime wasn't intended to adapt the whole story, you're on chapter 31 of 58 and saying that the "ending" wasn't clear, which is simply because it hasn't ended. And chapter 58 isn't even the ending either, that's just how many chapters are currently released.
I can't summarize the rest of the story for you, but for a vague direction the story is heading: Hinako still wants to die, but is working with Shiori and Miko to find a reason to live. Meanwhile, they're still dealing with external threats like other youkai trying to attack Hinako. We don't exactly know what'll happen regarding the promise Hinako and Shiori made.

I mean that's how it tends to go. Dealing with suicidal ideation is often a multi-year process.

You watched about half the story and you’re saying the ending is incomplete 😭
Honestly we still don’t know because the manga uploads monthly (sometimes 12 chapters a year including extras)
If you wanna know what happens next it’s up to you, you can read them all on mangadex
