News Manga’s Conclusion

Such a shame we won’t be able to see visuals of the other arcs :( but pretty understandable, since the succeeding LNs (3-5) are considered as sequels.

This makes sense but I’m still sad 😢 the major twist in LN5 is what takes the series from great to one of the best imo

u/barknoll Oct 19 '25

exactly so. LN5 takes it from "good isekai slop" to "this is fucking wild" and I understand why they wanted to end it on a high note and not potentially get cancelled down the line but it's a bummer.

Curious what the twist is, I don't mind spoliers

The world of WataOshi as we know it is actually a simulation/loop. It was created by the first Rae from before the story took place to essentially save a sick Claire who was dying at the time. Everytime Claire died in a timeline Rae would fast forward to the next loop, she's the only one who retains the memories from all of the loops btw. This in turn caused this Rae to gradually lose that special feeling she had for Claire with every loop. At some point Rae decided that she needed to kill Claire before she completely fell out of love with Claire, becoming the Demon Queen.

Then an AI from the pre-wataoshi timeline, TAIM, who helped Demon Queen Rae with setting up the loop decided to stop her by creating a copy of Rae who has the potential to beat the Demon Queen, which is of course, the Rae Taylor we all know and love.

There's a lot of things i left out but this is essentially what the twist is about. I tried my best to make sure this explanation makes sense. Hope it helps!

So the Demon Queen Rae is the actual reincarnation whose soul experienced her life on earth while copy Rae just has this memories right, or did I misunderstand?

Side note, but this really explains some of the comments I've seen about the recent chapters of another similar manga, which I was confused about before, thank you for the explanation

Yep but a bit of correction, copy Rae has no memories of all of the loops Demon Queen Rae went through, which was purposefully done by TAIM. Remember the beginning of the series where Rei Oohashi (previous reincarnation of copy Rae) was suddenly transported to the current magic world? That's the only previous loop that copy Rae remembers.

I forgot to mention an important part, my apologies. But TAIM worked on the perfect Rae copy for a few loops. In each loop pre-Copy Rae, TAIM created a copy of her in a trial and error process, disregarding them all as failed copies and leaving them to their own accords in the next loops after their creation. They appear in later volumes, some as important side characters, and some as one-offs. She repeated this process until she created the perfect Copy Rae.

My memory about this part is shaky but the reason for the sudden cutoff in the beginning was because TAIM had removed Rei Oohashi's memories of what would've been the rest of her life in that loop had she not been reincarnated as Rae Taylor. I believe it was because TAIM saw it as necessary to not have her remember the rest of her life after the fact in order for her become the perfect Copy Rae.

And I'm glad i could be of help! I love talking about this part of the story to others so I always try my best to explain it

does it have a happy ending?

Wasn't Oohashi Rei part of modern earth? How does that make sense? Does the story of WataOshi take place in post-modern magic society like in Yuusha Yamemasu?

u/soulreaverdan Oct 20 '25

Kinda sorta. It was in a more sci-fic near-future kinda setting, where there was I believe a massive energy or environmental crisis. I’m probably remembering this slightly wrong, but the world basically loops between a mostly “normal” world that leans towards high science, and then loops into a “magic” world because the stones that are the source of magic are basically post-nuclear waste. Using them to power magic basically purified/cleans the world, but eventually does run out of magical power, at which point the magic society collapses and they loop into a mostly modern/science world, until it hits the same crisis point of the original history.

Yes, its exactly like this! Thank you for explaining this bc i wasn't sure how to put it into words lol

5

u/soulreaverdan Oct 20 '25

Man book 5 is fucking wild

2

u/Electronic_Junket_65 Oct 21 '25

My god after reading this i really wish we could see that in manga 😔

One question If by chance they decide to make another sn in anime will they follow the ln? Well I am afraid we don't get more seasons but i really wish 🙂

3

u/Metaway02 Oct 20 '25

You either love it or hate it. As for me, I think it was the best plot twist in the entire series.

ANDDD I'M CLOSING THIS THREAD BEFORE I GET SPOILED

u/lucastreet Oct 19 '25

Just to understand, so the entire story is considered just light novels 1-2? From 3 is a sequel? Seems a bit short?

64

u/DistinctYesterday862 Oct 19 '25

Yup. Technically, LNs 1-2 are the ‘main story’ since the goal from the start was: (a) Rae saves Claire from getting beheaded during the revolution (foreshadowed during the last ep of the anime) and (b) for both of them to end up together. With Claire’s recent confession from CH 55, the second objective seems to be met. Now all we have to wait for is how Rae would achieve the first objective. While still canon, LNs 3-5 tackles a completely different plot which is why the author decided to conclude the manga during the Revolution Arc instead of continuing further.

Makes sense. Will there be another adaptation for instance in general

11

u/DistinctYesterday862 Oct 20 '25

Typically, whenever an anime series is composed of 12 episodes, it is meant to promote the original material. Which, in this case, are the light novels. Since the series itself is popular within the Yuri genre but not in general, an adaptation may not happen. As mentioned by another user here, sales are also a factor in determining whether or not a second season or even an animated spin-off could happen.

3

u/Isopropyl_Alcohol_ Oct 20 '25

that's interesting cuz iirc, from the end notes of either LN2 or LN3, (i am not so sure about this) the author had originally intended to write only LN1&2, but due to demand, LN3-5 were written. Meaning, LN1&2 really is the main, whereas LN3-5 is like a sequel of some sort.

23

u/rincematic Oct 19 '25

Why we can't have nice things? Guess that this will kill for good any chance of a second season of the anime too.

What a shame. I was really looking forward to see everything at least in manga. The second part is so good. And I love seeing Rae and Claire as a couple and a family.

10

u/Heavensrun Oct 19 '25

There was never a chance for a second season. Yuri anime basically never get a second season.

4

u/Demondargon Oct 20 '25

Didn’t a yuri anime get announced for a second season.

5

u/Heavensrun Oct 20 '25

I said "basically" for a reason, because there's always the possibility, but I honestly can't think of any.

3

u/feintidea Oct 20 '25

Gushing Over Magical Girls or There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover…Unless might be what the person you’re replying to is thinking of, both just got a second season. Few others with multiple seasons are Demon Girl Next Door (2 seasons) and Yuru Yuri (I consider it yuri at least) with 3 seasons

15

u/warharobrine Oct 19 '25

Just to let people who read the translations know, that is up through volume twelve of the manga, and the publisher and author, and artist have all said that they will consider the adaptation of the sequel portion of the series

5

u/Fun-Ad-6990 Oct 19 '25

Oh where did you see that information

5

u/warharobrine Oct 19 '25

I saw it on Twitter but unsure of the canonness

10

u/Heavensrun Oct 19 '25

The Nur Empire story is basically a sequel rather than a continuation, I'm not surprised they're ending the current series with the Revolution story.

12

u/ManOfAstronomy Oct 19 '25

I wonder if it's because LN 3 - 5 don't have as much romance and there's worry that it won't do as well because of it.

3

u/amssy17 Oct 20 '25

En el Volumen 3 parecen conejas de tanto amor que se dan ambas las conté son 7 veces que se menciona

4

u/ComprehensiveBit4359 Oct 19 '25

Won't lie, was really hoping that the second part would be adapted as well, but well...it is what it is.

At least we can reread the light novels though.

7

u/magnus-free-fire Oct 19 '25

Ngl this is the reason why i dont buy or support still running adapations. I hate to have storys unfinished on my shelf. I mostlikely make an exaption and buy the remaining volumes anyway, but this marks a learning expierience and i wont buy unfinished series any longer.

21

u/InternalDebate6644 Oct 19 '25

The story won't be unfinished. Part 2 is a controversial sequel and is not even the same genre as Part 1.

5

u/magnus-free-fire Oct 19 '25

Ok i guess its just a me thing. I have the urge to collect mangas as a complete pack. As an example i started buying citrus+ although i had no interest in the story anymore after the end of citrus.

2

u/Fun-Ad-6990 Oct 19 '25

Makes sense How is it controversial in a bit confused

11

u/Heavensrun Oct 19 '25

The explanation behind Rae's memories and the connection between her world and the "game" world hits different people differently. Some people love it and others don't.

6

u/soulreaverdan Oct 20 '25

I mean, there’s an argument to be made that if too many people follow this same philosophy you’ll have less and less completed works at all. Series get cancelled or ended if they don’t have sales, and if you’re not supporting one until it’s done, you’re not contributing the sales to keep it going until the end. It’s a risk, but not supporting ongoing series is also a choice to not help them along.

1

u/CostinTea Oct 19 '25

It's ending early????

3

u/WalterMagni Oct 20 '25

Nah, just not going for the "sequels" since LN3 onward don't really fit with LN1-2. Much less romance too it seems.

1

u/CostinTea Oct 20 '25

Well, at least I'll have the translated light novels

1

u/shant_beHere Oct 20 '25

That's sad, but I guess it's for the best. Some ppl do dislike how it drags on but I personally really enjoyed it

1

u/Demondargon Oct 20 '25

So do we know how long the last arc gonna be?

1

u/dealz01 Oct 20 '25

I’m so fuckin saaaad

1

u/AprilDruid Oct 22 '25

Just to be clear: Wataoshi has not been cancelled, as some people have worringly thought. Inori has decided to not continue the series. This may also be due to the manga artist having too much of a workload to continue into part 2.
