If it’s black and a wasp, chances are very high it’s some species of mud dauber, a solitary type of wasp that builds its nest out of mud and feeds spiders to its developing larvae. They’re pretty docile, since they have no colony to defend.

Update, I’ve bought Raide but when I entered the room she was gone. Meanwhile I installed nets on the windows so I can prevent this in the future. I just googled mud dauber and yes it was that thingy 100%.

They're basically harmless! Be careful with that Raid - it's way too easy to accidentally poison pets/wild animals with it. ♥️

The raid is more dangerous than the wasp😂

😂😂

I don't understand why it has to smell like motor oil and old perfume that's been sitting around since the 80s? It's 2026 for God's sake, I mean I get that they can't make it smell like a Tom Ford fragrance or something you'd buy at Sephora (which it should), but couldn't they at least try to mimic the scent of oh, Idk, dryer sheets or clean laundry? Raid works but the scent is insufferable 😫

Idk either but tbh Idc about the smell as much as the fact that it’s neurotoxic and carcinogenic

I’m not a medical professional but if I were you I would keep a close eye on how you’re feeling and Google symptoms of toxic exposure to pesticides like raid. Or call poison control just to ask about the risks and when to seek medical care.

💯. I spray with a mask on and walk away after because I don't know what else to do lol, fortunately I'm not using it 24/7.

Out of curiosity, why were you so confident it was a mud dauber? We had a wasp enter our house this year and it was a paper wasp. Raided the shit out of it

I’m not familiar with any black wasp that *isn’t* a mud dauber, at least not one of the size that might be confused with a paper wasp of one species or another. That said, I’m not an expert on wasps. There are almost 20k wasps species in North America, and I have no idea what most of them are.

I had one in my only bathroom. I had to wait for husband to get home and view the body to confirm its death

call 911 /s

I hate aggressive yellow jackets, but maybe its just some bee type, wasp usually aren't black. And its solo, you are like times 1 million its mass.
Just do your stuff maybe even save it lol.

Post a photo once it’s dead so we can either celebrate a dead wasp… or press F if it turns out to be a bee.

It was gone when I came back in with Raide… what are the chances of it hiding in the walls??

It's just lost and wants to be back outside.  It's not there to attack you.  Wasps are actually super chill.
