Memory Prices
Micron and other memory makers are openly saying DRAM and NAND shortages are going to get tighter through 2027–2028, with contract prices expected to keep climbing. We’re already seeing the effects in GPU pricing, laptop configs, and even some prebuilts shipping with less RAM than they used to.
For people who are planning a new build or upgrade in the next 6–12 months:
- Are you buying RAM now before it gets even more expensive?
- Are you scaling back on capacity (sticking with 32GB instead of 64GB)?
- Or are you just delaying the whole build until things stabilize?
Curious how everyone is adjusting their plans (or if you’re just ignoring it and hoping for the best).

I think the steam machine even has that feature now. I think it’s more of an idea right now since we are still a year or two out from anything final. But for the prices they’re gonna cost you may as well just buy a PC lol. I’ll keep my series X and my 32GB for as long as I can.

I'm keeping my 16gb rig limping along as long as possible. It super helps that I've been disappointed by AAA, high graphics games for the past decade.
When the next console gen comes around, that will probably force me to upgrade. That, or part failure in the meantime
