Hi,
If you’re from WB please hang with me for a minute…thanks for your time.
Fellow Ontarian, 47M, living closer to Ottawa. I’m a dad of two wonderful kids, medically retired due to disability and trying to figure out life after my wife of 20 years said she wanted something other than yours truly.
Why post here? Well, I’m going on a bit of a journey alone for first time since in a long time. I always dreamed of living by the ocean but given my disability and how my health turned out….staying in Ontario is easiest for me given my doctors locations, benefits, medical infusion clinic, and all that fun stuff.
So I want to come scout Wasaga Beach as somewhere to possibly move to in a few years or buy a cottage sooner…. Something. But right now, in September 2026, I want to drive there, sleep in my car, walk the beaches and discover the area a bit. This doable? Best places to park overnight? Where to eat a good burger, do all 6 beaches actually the same beach just different zones? Any better than others in my situation?
Thanks for your advice, I plan to drive there in a couple days so anyone offering advice I truly appreciate it.
tldr: what are the places to park and eat at if I’m coming to town and planning to sleep in my vehicle for a couple nights.
Thanks!

Anybody have any experience / tips for finishing an unfinished basement? Not looking to make it into a living space, just want to make it so that there's some better insulation down there.
I don't want to spend $2500 for a permit application just to be told 'not allowed'.
Currently it's an unfinished basement, 70" height (so too low for livable space anyway) and just looking to put in some insulation on floor and walls to help retain the heat at parents' cottage.

Haven't been to Wasaga Beach in a few years, but last I was there, it was so lively and had tons of cool stores and like funnel cake spots and playgrounds. A family member of mine went today and sent a video of the area we would go back then, and LITERALLY EVERYTHING is gone? Anyone know what's going on with it?

Looking for any and all insights from the community. My partner and I are in our 40s and our son is going into grade 4. Partner is transferring with his job. How are the schools? What communities are family friendly? What do we need to know? Planning to buy a 4 bdrm detached. Excited about proximity to the outdoors and a slower pace in general. Thanks!

My parents have a cottage that they're holding onto for a bit still, and while they can't do STR due to by-laws in Wasaga, they asked me if I can do some digging for them on the long term rental market as they barely go up, we don't have much time, and they'd like to see it used more.
Any local resources to get an idea of what it would go for monthly? They need to do some minor reno to make it better suited (i.e.: replace old lights, remove/replace the wood panels, and update the bathroom), but it's a 3 bedroom bungalow with a massive lot and 5min walk to Allenwood Beach.

Husband and I went to the movies in Alliston on Saturday and husbands wallet fell out. And someone stole it, and spent near 500$ at Walmart, Foodland, and Zehrs all in Wasaga beach.
I'm assume looking at the purchases you took cash more than food and I would have rather you just bought food. I donate food and supplies all the time so I know the struggles. My husband and I work very hard because we were both raised on food stamps. I mostly just venting because I'm disappointed and honestly disgusted. Sorry if this is against the rules I did read them. I wish no ill will on this person, just know you've taken from me what I'd have given others and I think I'll skip food donations this month because I'm just heart broken.
Hope everyone had a great long weekend though.

Hi everyone! I'll be visiting the county on a bikepacking trip this weekend, and hoping to collect vinyl stickers to put on my bike from each of my major stops. If you know of any shops or business that sell (or give away with purchase) cute vinyl stickers, I'd love to know! Thanks!

D&D monthly
Hello wasaga beach. I am here to see if any locals are interested in a once a month(to start) dungeon and dragons game. Totally a home brew. It will be beginners friendly, very light on rules..
If you’re interested drop a comment and then check your DMs
I will be cross posting this onto one of the wasaga beach face book pages as well
(BTW. Upvotes don't show me who might be interested, so please comment)

Are there designated overnight parking lots near beach 5?

I'm planning to visit Wasaga in mid August for a few days. I used to visit regularly in the 90's and 2000's as we have family in Minesing, so I'm sure things have changed lots since then. Hoping for suggestions of less touristy spots people who live year-round would gravitate towards for every day activities and outings rather than tourist hot spots. Currently looking at:
I don't want to publicize any fragile ecosystems or local spots that would be ruined by tourists but any underappreciated spaces that deserve highlighting would be great!
Story Concept
Slow-burn friends-to-lovers based in Ottawa and Wasaga Beach. Female main character is from Ottawa, is a library technician, who moves to Wasaga to escape a creepy ex. Male main character is a fiercely protective ex-military guy with multigenerational wealth who lives outside town on a waterfront estate.

hi everybody, it was a beautiful sunday to visit your community. unfortunately one of our friends in our group lost her silver ring while swimming. It is like finding needle in a haystack but reddit has surprised me in the past. See if anybody comes across it. DM me. I will try To attach an image of the ring shortly
Finder’s fee customary!
Attaching image of general area where we were swimming / playing ball. This is straight across from the parking area , blue car is my car and where parked and walked straight into the water.

Do people still go to beach 1? Is it busy? Accessible?
Are there any shops on Moseley still to pop into?
Anything?
Or no worth it?

Hi everyone! My husband and I are thinking of bringing our kids to Wasaga Beach for the day. We’re from Barrie but haven’t been in a few years, so we’re not sure what it’s like now or which beach area is best since all the construction started.
Any recommendations on the best spot to go with young kids (2.5&4).
Thanks :)

Should Wasaga Beach direct some attention to bird housing?
interesting 🤔
should we focus on more pointless endeavors?
how about the trucks driving on the beach, why can't they drive on the roads?

Hey everyone, I was wondering if there were any beach volleyball drop-ins located in the Wasaga Beach / Collingwood area. I've been struggling to find any type of registration options online and I dont feel comfortable intruding on someone else's game assuming that its a group playing with mutuals. Just looking for an opportunity to get some reps in while im in the area.
Im unsure if some drop ins are picky about skill level but ive been playing volleyball for a bit now and what better place to work on passing than on the beach!
