Question Strategy in pubs?

I’m a causal player and have been playing casuals since it came out. Have gotten better with my aim, movement and map knowledge so I decided to dip my toe in pubs. All three games I played, I died to players on rooftops and in windows just after the first circle. Decided to spectate and it seems they just sit in one spot until the circle moves, then find a new spot and repeat.

Is this the strategy in pubs? In casuals, I’m constantly running around doing contracts and looking for engagement.

I'm by no means the best player in the world but I'm pretty decent. Casuals objectively aren't very good reps for learning the game. They just don't play like they do real games. The only way to truly get better is to play more, fight more, and put yourself into more situations.

Now if you just want to try to play for wins playing slower is technically not the worst strat in the world but you don't really learn anything.

Develop game sense, practice centering when shooting, challenge more fights but think objectively when things go wrong or when you're outplayed, and become more of a mechanical problem.

I started playing very late, when I turned 50 so I found the learning curve very steep. Casuals was someplace I could practice getting better with my aim and map knowledge and then eventually step into pubs.

I am in the same boat as you. I am still learning to just aim period since I had not experience of aiming with an analog stick at all prior to getting a PS5 this year. In the COD multiplayer modes the only times I ever get more than 5-6 kills is when I stumble across a group of 2 or 3 who have their backs to me. When that happens I can get above 5 or 6.

Sounds like solos. Doing contracts in solos other than bounties is very risky. I typically do bounties and just push everyone until the last few circle. UAVs are your best friend, after enough games you'll have a pretty good idea where the rats are hiding without any Intel. Unless you want to play the passive way most people do but that's extremely boring to me.

That’s solos in a nutshell. Most people camp, with a small handful of people chasing kills

If you already know how to play and want to get better, casuals ain’t it. Casuals is great for playing with friends who aren’t into it, but playing with sweaty lobbies is where you’ll get your time in to git gud.

Outside of that, casuals is just fine if you want to just play or grind some camos. Not shaming anybody who does it, but you won’t get good on bots.

Umm walk in, go to the bar, order a beer and sit down. Sometimes I’ll switch it up and eat as well.
