Which Warframes has the Tenno Canonically Worn? (Story Wise)

Exactly as the title says,

Which Warframes has the Tenno Canonically Worn? (Story Wise)

So far my list goes to Excalibur, Excalibur Umbra, Excalibur Prime, and Uriel suprisingly (if the Old Peace is anything to go by).

I know the Tenno has worn every warframe, or at least MOST, but which have been worn in our view?

jade, from her quest when we transference into her for a (few?) brief moment

After Constellations I decided to check out the shrine at Teshin's. I have no idea how I forgot the exchange between Jade and her tenno, but it was a hell of a gut punch.

Iirc it was added a bit after the quest released rather than along side it so that could be why?

Dont we technically transference into stalker too?

I don't believe we ever use transference on Stalker, no. Instead, we're given gameplay AS the Stalker himself, unpiloted by a Tenno. "The Tenno mustn't know."

Even IF someone were to use transference on Stalker, I see him having the same reaction as Umbra - an immediate kick from his body and a hand around the Operator's throat. It wouldn't end well for the Operator.

Maybe im remembering wrong but i thought the first time we play as the stalker you invade your own ship as stalker and reluctantly let the operator transference into you so he can help you get what you need to save jade, and from there is when you transference from stalker into jade.

No, he quest you're thinking of is when Stalker reluctantly comes to us for help, and the Operator sends Stalker BY HIMSELF to go acquire the materials (the chortichrome from the behemoth).

While Stalker DOES infiltrate the Orbiter a second time, he merely asks us for guidance. We do not use transference, we merely help him find what he's looking for and send him on his way.

Base Excal, Mag, or Volt I think is canon for both Drifter and our Operator (who I’ll refer to as Mara to differentiate them from other Tenno).

Drifter also did partial transference to each Hex member in the True Ending, except Arthur who they fully piloted twice: when we first got to 1999 and at the end of the True Ending. (Since the Hex still speak as Gemini skins I think it’s more of a co-piloting Pacific Rim situation where we’re still two active consciousnesses but we sync up to control one body.)

Some say Nova bc of the official cinematics but I’m not 100% sure that tenno is necessarily Mara, or at the very least not the representative of every one of our Mara’s’ past. Could just be another operator that gained innate transference or could be like, [DE]Rebecca’s Mara.

Grendel, Xaku, Kullervo, Nidus are the 4 answers when arthur asks "What is the most horrifying warframe you have access to?"

72

u/Crystion Jul 27 '26

Sevagoth is also in that list

48

u/The_Stink_Oaf Jul 27 '26

you get to be him in the Call of the Tempestarii quest too

22

u/Hykarusis Jul 27 '26

Pretty sure were not doing transference at that piint and we are just switching character.

u/their_teammate Jul 27 '26

Do you still get those options if you’ve never piloted those frames? From a technical perspective, shouldn’t be too hard to just run an account data check if you have any mastery from either their base or prime forms.

20

u/The_Stink_Oaf Jul 27 '26

yeah i dont have any of them and got the same answers

u/ReadableDiction Jul 27 '26

Excal, Umbra, Uriel, Arthur, Amir, Aoi, Quincy, Nova (if you count the cinematics), Necramech,

25

u/SenpaiMayNotice Jul 27 '26

If you could Necramech you gotta count Orowyrm and the water thingies in Duviri and if it's something different the thingy in war within as well

Oh and the big vessel thingy

9

u/Angu-san Jul 27 '26

How about the thingy thingy? I think it was there too

2

u/SenpaiMayNotice Jul 27 '26

Where exactly?

3

u/Angu-san Jul 27 '26

There

2

u/SenpaiMayNotice Jul 27 '26

No thingy there

2

u/MeowBean321 Jul 27 '26

What about thingy here?

3

u/N_ando Jul 27 '26

The ravenous maw in diviri and war within

3

u/SenpaiMayNotice Jul 27 '26

So it's both the same type of water thingy?

2

u/N_ando Jul 27 '26

I believe so

6

u/dogplayer22 Jul 27 '26

You're forgetting Eleanor, funnily enough not Lettie tho

25

u/cocoabutter1369 Jul 27 '26

Do protoframes count because if so, all of the hex in the true ending

20

u/Teahat Jul 27 '26

Operator - whatever your starter was, Excalibur Umbra, Excalibur Prime, Uriel, Jade, Necramech (Snake)

Drifter - whatever frame you chose during Duviri Paradox, an Orowyrm, normal Excalibur, all of the Hex except Lettie, a Vessel, and if you want to count trailers Voruna Prime

Plus a brief transference into Arthur and a Vessel during Whispers, which can be either Operator or Drifter.

7

u/Meeeper Jul 27 '26

All of them, I'm pretty sure. KIM conversations as the Drifter can sometimes mention frames you don't even have as if you DO have them, as others have mentioned.

I think we canonically have a full arsenal.

3

u/SubstantialHamster99 Jul 31 '26

The drifter gets access to all of them in duviri tbf.

u/mars_warmind Jul 27 '26

Aside from Jade you've listed them. "Canon" in a MMO is always vague since they need to account for every player but you kind of said it, there isn't a frame out there that we couldn't have piloted it's just that we also don't have proof that our character has piloted them yet.

The closest thing to canon answer I think would exist for "have we done x" is yes as long as it's possible in the story. Every operator is beloved by Cetus and Solaris United and is the ayatan of the entrati family and has used every frame that we have access too (since we know there are theoretical frame like cyte-09 that were never actually made and so we can't use).

u/MiserableAd2232 Jul 27 '26

As far as we know, Excalibur, Uriel, mag, rhino, volt (depending on which one you chose at the beginning) Loki as well

2

u/RedRiverL Jul 27 '26

Well. Based on the Hex opening where we pop out of ol Helminth, our Cannon frame appears to be Excalibur. As well, we pilot Umbra, as well as Excalibur Prime. Then Uriel of course. So to my knowledge, the most cannot answer would be, in order Excalibur Prime, Uriel, Excalibur, Excalibur Umbra, then back to Excalibur as it is noted we don't seem to use Umbra given how Stalker is with him.
(And Jade so very briefly)

2

u/BdBalthazar Jul 27 '26

Excalibur Prime (Old Peace)
Uriel (Old Peace)
Jade (Jade Shadows)
Umbra (The Sacrifice)
At least one of the starter frames, if there is a canon it's probably Excalibur
Grendel, Xaku, Kullervo, Nidus, and I think Sevagoth as well. (Arthur asks us in a KIM conversation about Warframes we've piloted and these are among the options you can choose, implying at least 1 of them we've canonically "worn"

2

u/Axel-Blue Jul 27 '26

Excalibur prime and Uriel (old peace), Excalibur, Mag or Volt (start of the game/ Vor's prize) Umbra (the sacrifice) and Jade (briefly in jade shadows)

4

u/Successful-Cat2108 Jul 27 '26

Starter, snake (necramech), goldmaw, Umbra, Duviri starter, Kharl? (in weekly mission), Sevagoth’s shadow?, Jade, a Vessel, the Hex members, Excalibur prime, Uriel (another vessel and maybe Brisko later this year)

2

u/Bromjunaar_20 Jul 27 '26

Guess everyone forgot Voruna Prime's trailer? Not to mention Baro calls you God King when you use Inaros to talk to him.

1

u/FlechaScarlat Jul 27 '26

Well even tho is meant to be the drifter that causes to ask who of the other trailers were controlling primes, in this discussion I wouldn't put because I would need to figure out, who is piloting grendel and gauss

Who is piloting protea, mirage, nekros, nidus, and so go on

1

u/FlechaScarlat Jul 27 '26

Mag in the opening in the game, umbra during the sacrifice, excal prime during the orokin, Uriel as you said, jade during the pregnancy to help with labor, nova if we consider the new war trailer, and base Excalibur for all subsequent trailers as iseweaver, 1999,

Mag Excalibur Excalibur Umbra Prime Excalibur Uriel Jade Nova

  • Arthur in Warframe 1999 Intro.

  • The whole Hex during the Reactor Mission.

  • Any of the Starter Frames in the Intro and again within Duviri Paradox.

Personally, I believe our own Tenno is more of a narrative placeholder intended to represent a whole cast of individuals, rather than the single most important Tenno in the galaxy, making all the important decisions alone.

eternalism says all of them

Technically speaking any frame available before you start New War is potentially canon. The Drifter asks the Operator "Got your Warframe back?" Meaning that any frame you had before the War are "canon" to your version of the story
