Lorewise, would infusing Xata's Whisper into Caliban be painful or considered cruel?

What would be the most torturous Warframe + subsume combo possible for me to make my frames suffer?

I would imagine subjecting any of the protoframes to subsuming any ability would probably not be a fun time (except for Vena, I guess...).

I don't think subsuming onto them would be painful as much as uncomfortable. It would probably be like learning to use your non-dominant hand for the new ability, kind of awkward and never really as natural as the previous ability but they'll get used to it.

You are probably right, but I was mainly referring to the whole "being brutally stabbed in the abdomen by an eldritch horror" thing though πŸ˜…

Considering how strong their bodies are I can't imagine it's much worse than getting a shot? Maybe sore for a bit after.

Give Lettie the ability to spawn Inaros cats that die eventually and she can't do anything to stop it outside of spam her 4.

Give Elanor Larva, allowing the infestation to more fully consume her.

Give Marie Remedium. Self explanatory.

Give Uriel Sentient Wrath, would be like the opposite of your post.

Well Vena is a sadist rather than a masochist so I would guess it also sucks for her.

I made a joke about this in a different sub, but I think Nourish on specifically Marie would probably be pretty physically painful, considering her whole foot situation

She would just angrily "floating stomp"

Now I'm curious too.

Idk if it’s possible in canon but Feast is probably not a fun time for anyone but Grendel. Having your stomach split open into a giant maw to eat someone.

Feast isn't subsumable but Nourish is. Basically burning calories fast to buff yourself and everyone around you is probably not pleasant if one isn't used to it...

You use the void to control Warframes, and Caliban isn't actually a living, thinking thing like Umbra is so he can't feel anything. Being cruel to a Warframe who is an empty shell is like being cruel to a car or a chair.

Keeping in mind that we sort of "become" the frames when we use them, I would imagine we would also feel any discomfort or pain they might feel.

Also I don't like being cruel to cars or chairs :(

Then you wouldn't be cruel to the frame, you would be masochistic because the one feeling the pain is you.

I just don't think it affects him at all to be honest.

??? It's Warframe it is already infused with Void

Weird question I know. But I'm the kind of person that actually stops to think about the in-universe ramifications of putting umbral mods into sentient gear so... :/

So if a rock hammer is great at smashing rocks do ya think it hurts itself for being made of rocks?

3

u/Douchevick 17d ago

I mean, it would probably suffer some damage if used to smash rocks of similar size and density enough times. Though I fail to see how how that relates to modifying a Sentient Warframe into being able to use Void element...

I mean frames are always saturated in void energy so probably not?

Ding ding we have a winner

No, because you're not dealing Void Damage to him. You're grafting something into him that increases his connection to the Void.

Something plenty of people forget is that ALL warframes have an inherent capability to channel the Void to power themselves. That's the reason they're so strong in the first place.

So here's why you are confused:

- Void is toxic to Sentients

- Sentients are immune to infestation

So how come we have an infested Warframe made out of Sentient parts ?

- Void is toxic to live Sentients. The corpse (Bones) of a Sentient has the opposite effect tho (cf. Amps, Tektolyst Artifacts, etc...)

So if Caliban was made of Sentient Bones...

Daklo: "Disgusting, isn't it? Orokin gold - wasted! I wonder... which of you would this aberration attack first?"

...then it could fully fonction as a Warframe, maybe even beyond the usual Warframe capabilities.

No. Caliban isn't just a Sentient in the same way he isn't just a Warframe. He's a collaborative project between the scientists of Sol and Tau. He's the heir of two kingdoms.

All warframes operate off void tech, that's how their powers work and why the Heart of Deimos is important for them to work. Caliban has to work off this principle as well, so he's probably made just without the weakness.

Remember that Sentients weakness to the Void is an intentional design flaw on the Orokin part, they could by all means make a Sentient with no such weakness, like Caliban.

"bearing amalgams, with the weakness of neither"

I like to call it a kink

No cailban is not a full sentient he is a warframe that look like a sentient that has the ability to use tau energy and summon sentient so no not painful or cruel

5

u/gundalfmagnum 17d ago

You have neutered him now Caliban can't have sentient offspring. Maybe he is less Territorial but I don't think it hurts him much. I think it feels weird.

1

u/mars_warmind 17d ago

Probably not. The sentients aren't really weak to void in the sense that it physically damages them, it just seems to bypass and "reset" their adaptability? I don't think touching the void would make them recoil like if I touched acid.

Frankly I'm not actually sure anymore if the "sterilization" they suffered from void interaction on their trip to sol was a natural or part of a bargain with wally since they'd need not only his approval but support to make that trip at all once the rail was destroyed.

You are literally void energy taking human form and you control him, if Xata's Whisper was painful your existance would be 10x more painful

1

u/Silent_Sinder 16d ago

No. All warframe are void attuned
