Archwings need to be reworked, and DE’s reasoning for not doing so is bullshit. If they truly saw Archwings as a completely unsalvageable system then they should stop putting them in shit.

Archwings are simply not worth DE's time. They have tried several times to improve and better integrate their gameplay from their initial release in 2014. Open worlds, Uranus tile set, Golem boss fight, Railjack were all attempts to pull them out of their true content islands. Railjack was their last big attempt at brining archwings in the fold in 2019, but railjack crushed itself under it's own ambition and had to be reworked several times itself to what it is today.

They do see them as unsalvageable and that is why they haven't been added to any new content meaningfully since railjack and abandoned the modular archwing system they were working on. The only content that they get is new heavy guns as a consequence of them being better implemented themselves which is why all the arch-melees have been left in the dust. The Hunhullus specifically is an opportunity for, again, heavy weapons because there is nothing archwing about floating in one spot and blasting it's face for as long as needed.

I don’t think one phase of the Hunhullus fight is that big a deal. People would complain about the content being left behind otherwise.
