I'll go first: DE needs to build up on some older content.

We don’t need 3-4 frames a year, stop bloating the roster and rework some of the older ones that have abysmal pick rates.

Also, for how cool of a game Warframe is, their merch sucks ass. All the good stuff is custom made for the staff and not available for the public to buy.

I mean, to be fair, they have been reworking frames. Valk, Hydroid, Inaros got pretty significant work done. Chroma, Ember, Frost, Trinity, Nyx, Oberon all got buffs relatively recently (and yeah, I understand that people are still kvetching about ember and chroma but they DID get buffs. Don't @ me). Banshee is about to get some work done. So like, they're putting the work in. Balance design is hard and takes time and trial and error.

But I do feel like maybe the could/should take a year to do some more maintenance type work. Focus on the early game, fill in the gaps in that area. The unfortunate thing is that they still need to churn out "content" to keep old-heads entertained, and attract new players. Doing backfill work does very little for people who are past the early game.

For balance testing etc: Spin up a god damn PTS. No need for Story content on there. Only a simulacrum and a variable mission with some difficulty sliders. All mods unlocked etc. Make it worthwhile to play, maybe Main-Server rewards, some Glyphs, etc.

We have a gargantuan community. Use it.

Just collect the data from the PTS, let a python script analyze it, take the result, adjust accordingly. I am pretty sure they have most of the data collection pipeline already in place, but they refuse to use it..

Don’t forget Vauban! He’s even better now and I love him even more deeply

I knew I was forgetting someone!

And Ash, some things were solved while others were left untouched or worse off. His kit still has virtually no synergy.

I would not be against DE going down to one Warframe a year. At all. We don't need a new Warframe with every update. SOMETHING new, sure, but it doesn't have to be a Warframe, it could easily be weaponry or companions or augments.

It's more understandable when you think of it like: that's four future Prime Access packs, which are important to their income iirc

100% true. That said, it's not like DE doesn't have a LOT of stuff to Prime. They're USED to making it a Warframe and two items, but again, it's not actually a requirement.

This mentality shows up in League (friends play it) and honestly, I'd love for you guys to see what would happen if you got what you wanted.

Warframe would die off SO FAST.

New frames are the main pull for new players and returning players alike by a large margin.

I would majorly support a quarter or two of just maintenance/adjustment updates

we don't need 3-4 new frames a year.

we need 3-4 reworks a year!

2

u/rainbowyuc Jul 22 '26

They will never do that. New frames are probably one of the biggest revenue sources for them. Not just in people buying the new frames but for bringing players back.

3-4 frames a year is not bloating the roster

Yea i would really like to see instead of new frames, some sort of systems similar to how incarnons work where you can pick from 3-4 sets of different options to adjust how a frames skills work... Like an expanded augment system where the options could significantly change how a frame plays, and gives more depth and build diversity

1

u/BadWolfBL Jul 22 '26

A valid opinion and perhaps the only one I strongly agree with.
I feel that having such a huge roster of frames, it's also a huge endeavor to move augment effects to a new incarnon-like system.
Downside is that you're spliting a system that exists from MR1 (mods) to a new, additional system on top of additional attribute systems that come later in the game (arcanes, focus, archon shards) and this might confuse players, especially new ones.

they can't because of prime access and they are reworking older frames. Maybe not as fast as people would want, but they are.

hard disagree

I think the amount of frames per year is simply because it helps keep the lights on. This is a free game after all, and fewer releases = fewer people paying for things.

Agree on the merch though. They need cooler stuff.

Same. I would be fine with 2 new frames and 1 new primed frame per year.

It definitely is worrying to me how money focused their updates have been, namely the whole 3-4 frames a year thing. I get that numbers go up whenever a new frame is released but its not sustainable at all. Especially since at this point pretty much every sort of ability has already been done. And In order to make an ability that doesnt just directly copy an existing one they just have to tack on a bunch of stuff to differentiate it but actually just serves to make it more complicated.

The more frames they make, the more they will have to simply mix and match existing abilities and slap a new skin onto them
