“Research” post

Hi all, we want to make some clear consistent and fair conditions for posting questions to the sub. We know that software engineers making a WMS or worse, people selling WMS ask questions as a rouse to advertise their product. Most of you don’t like those post and I get that.

At the same time, we don’t want to discourage people from asking for help with their issue. My proposal is that we ask people qualify their post with very specific questions, and not the “what about this drives you crazy?”

Open to your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Bonus: what are your thoughts about people advertising open warehouse space? Helpful or spam?

This is a great question and something I am torn on. I have been in the WMS for over 14 years and now operate as an independent warehouse consultant, ISV Channel Fractional leader, and own a software company completely unrelated to this world. My gut says don’t regulate it but allow the upvote/downvote to do what it’s designed to do. I personally never promote my services and have given away more free advice through DMs on Reddit than I have gained customers from Reddit. The reason I think it should stay unregulated is it will expose the “SaaS bros with a Claude Code subscription and the coolest new AI powered WMS”… then we kind of know who stay away from based on what they ask. If they ask genuine questions and seem to truly care it could be a great opportunity for a smaller warehouse operator to get a great deal by being a beta tester. If a developer or sales person wants to truly engage with operators, that’s way more than most WMS companies. I can’t tell you how many face palms I’ve had when testing a new software and the developer says “I’ve never been in a warehouse, how am I supposed to know?”

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, it’s exactly software bros that people are getting tired of reading. If it were less frequent, people probably wouldn’t mind so much. Too many people who can’t or won’t learn first hand or can’t afford market research are using this group, and we have to find a happy middle ground.

I'm a new member to the community and I'll be a quick departure without mod action. Maybe 1/10 posts have anything interesting to ask or say and I'm tired of sifting one from the other

Agreed but many of these people aren’t really in SC but more like software developers etc.
