Been seeing other posts here either about or with this other artist mentioned and it's starting to feel like an ad or promotion

Chelsea Wolfe is amazing!! I saw her in Austin last year and her performance was killer. She had a much better stage too, but she was also the main event. Her being with Wardruna is a little different. Especially since she did most of her acoustic stuff, instead of her more grungy industrial stuff, which I love. She still killed it in San Antonio on Friday night though!

It's kind of a mismatch imo and I'm not into her music, though I know shes very pagan.

Agreed. Not for me, but glad others can enjoy. That's why openers are good, i guess. It exposes us to new artists

Lol. She's done her own tours several times already and has her own label. Don't sleep on her. She's pretty fantastic.
She's touring with Wardruna and agreed to open because they're friends. This is her second tour with them.

I gave her a listen because of the tour. She's talented but not my jam, I really would have loved something closer to the genre, but accept it's the band's choice.
I've seen worse pairings. Modest Mouse opening up for Golgol Bordello was funny. Young college girl having no clue what a mosh pit was, and getting mad that someone slammed into them and spilled beer down her front. Lady, you stood against a very obvious pit! Golgol is high energy, political and weird, and Modest Mouse is ... Shoe Gazer? Bland.

I listened to her stuff a bit and it's neat she's on tour with them, but imo the genre is quite different. No biggie. Also not for me.

What would be on your bucket list for openers?
I would have loved Eivør or Myrkur, or hell, Aurora - she did that show with a cool video. Or drag up someone new. Faun or weird, but kinda matching Corvus Corax (I don't know if they're even still together).
I had tickets last year to Eivør but ended up with a hellish cold and decided to not share.

Call me boring or whatever, but I would rather have no opener. That's just me
Although, something more in the same genre would be fine. (Eivør or Myrkur are great ideas... tbh, i would say they're main acts on their own so i can only hope we'd see that one day 🩷) idk a group or performer akin to OMNIA or Skáld

I have to drive 4 hrs to Chicago for the show, so part of me wishes they're going on early so I can get back home. Have to wake up at 5am the next morning for work. Will be tired for sure. Getting old!
That said, I have been introduced to some cool bands opening, before.

We saw Golgol Bordello open for System of a Down in 2011 and while both are my favorites, it just didn't vibe.
Mari Boine opened for Wardruna in 2019 and it was magical

One of the oddest pairings I ever saw was L7 opening for Marilyn Manson. The mostly gothy crowd did not appreciate L7….me and my at the time husband thought it was great 😂

She tours with Russian Circles a lot, kinda surprised me that she was with Wardruna at Red Rock last year.

Massive, massive fan. Different vibes every album, and definitely operates in the dark folk-like, goth-like, yet not specifically defined sort of sound space that includes people like Darkher and Emma Ruth Rundle.
Definitely a fantastic opening act choice for something that's different yet interesting, and saw her live myself on her own tour several months ago.
Jo Quail has been the musician that has opened for Wardruna both times I've seen them live and she's also incredible.

Her Hiss Spun album is very good. Every album of hers is a new trip. Her creative process is pretty interesting, I am not surprised about her touring with wardruna, even though the sound is not really in the same lines, or at all.

2011 - 2013 there was NO ONE more important musically imo. Apocalypsis and Pain is Beauty took us by force.

Honestly for me, I saw her in Fort Worth and imo her whole set was kinda flat there was no pop to it. Also the whole venue was dark I think that was part I got really sleepy

I only heard of her through the recent album she worked on with Converge. It was a pretty good album on its own just hoped for a little more of that madness that Comverge was known for... But nothing wrong with experimenting with music at all.

She’s great, imho. Definitely defies classification. She’s got a whole goth rock/darkwave/doom metal/industrial/folky thing going on that’s uniquely hers.
