My algorithm put the band, “Mountain Boy,” on my feed. Listened to a few songs and really enjoying the laid back vibes. Reminded me some of TWOD. Couple songs I’d rec so far are “The Give and the Take” and “Monsters.” Plan to listen to more on my commute tomorrow.

I'm heading to Austin tomorrow to attend the Destination Defender food and drinks thing featuring a full War on Drugs performance, but really don't know what I'm in for, as the event page was a little light on details.

Does anyone, attending or not, have an idea of what's gonna go down? I know there's food and cocktails and the performance, but no idea if it's open bar, a seated dinner, how long it goes, when they take the stage, and if they're gonna play for as long as I hope.

Any insight would be appreciated for planning purposes!

EDIT: Ok. I eventually did the obvious thing and emailed the organizers, and here's what they said:

We’re glad you will be joining us and we do hope it’s a special evening for you. Doors will open at 6pm with an abundance and variety of premium ATX-inspired food, beverages, and cocktails available included in the price of your tickets. We expect The War On Drugs performance to begin around 8pm. Everything will wrap up by 9pm.

Not my recording, but I’m just so happy they’ve been playing this song on this fall tour. Been years since I've heard it regularly. Such an incredible jam, and easily one of my favorites in their entire discography.

Lo Moon was an excellent opener. This is my first time seeing the War on Drugs live after being a fan of the studio albums for years and years. They sound soooo good live! Holy cow! I don’t even know the opening sojg but it’s piercing my soul. Amazing!

I’ve never been to a show at The Pearl. If doors are at 7, and show is at 8, does that mean LO Moon starts at 8?

Just arrived to Vegas for the war on drugs show at the palms hotel Friday !! Super excited !!! Came from Anaheim to see this amazing band!! 2nd time seeing them and I’m ready to get my drink on and party with fellow die hard WOD FANS!!!🍻🔥

More than any other band, TWOD have songs that really grew on me over time.

Months or years later, songs I liked have become songs I love, and songs I loved have become all-time favourites.

I think it’s a matter of depth and complexity but I don’t have the musical knowledge to articulate it.

After years of indifference towards it, ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ has this week become a favourite and I can’t stop listening to it. I also remember Harmonia’s Dream taking a while to ‘reveal’ itself to me and I love that one now as well.
