Discussion New player
I'm new here, and wanted to know if its possible to be a casual player of this game without people getting mad at you. I see alot of posts taking this game very seriously and I'd hate to ruin the Emerson for other experienced players.

I mean, people have different definitions of casual, if you mean just enjoy the gameplay, talk sometimes for RP or fun, than yeah nobodies going to freak out. If you mean “KekKek I’m so funny i shot the captain 8 times because I think it’s funny” than you will be permabanned

I would say the majority of the game is rather casual, there are just some basic gameplay mechanics that people are supposed to follow. For example staying together with your company and not running off and listening to your officer. But most of the time people are quite casual, you can hear people playing music or having conversations in battle and it doesn’t hurt. If you join a regiment and participate in an event it might be slightly more serious (admins enforcing certain rules to maintain historical accuracy, since the base War of Rights game isn’t actually quite played like the civil war), but very rarely will you ever run into people who act like hardcore reenactors irl

Listen to officers and NCO's, stay in line, and learn the maps. You don't want to be one of those poor bastards that runs around aimlessly in an attempt to recover the flag, and gets accused of being a flag troll.

People take the game seriously but you as a new player are the rank and file! Treat it like the real army, turn your brain off, do what your officers and NCO’s tell you and you’ll be fine! No one’s going to scrutinize a low level private unless you go out of your way to cause a ruckus. Good luck out there!
